I think that joystick is what they call iDrive, well part of it anyway, correct me if I'm wrong.

Is that the folding mirrors button that I see to the bottom right of the gearstick?

Maybe the mystery button between the DSC & Sport isn't solved

Paul, do you know if you don't spec the smokers pack will you still get the 12v socket in place of the lighter?

You'll get a 12v in the front instead of the lighter yes.

12v

Paul, I seem to remember that my previous MINIs had another 12v socket (pretty obviously NOT for lighting ciggies) in the boot. On this one ('06 convert), I can't find it. Or is it goofy ole me?

The 12v in the convertible boot is at the rear of the boot towards the left. Look over the edge of the sill around where the tailgate left hinge is. It is described in your owners manual.

Keep up , you use the electric mirror control mounted on the drivers door to fold in the mirrors.

Mystery button remains just that.............................
