Offline | 12V In Cabin Without Smokers Pack? Advice Required Very silly question If you do NOT specify the 441 Smokers Pack do you still get a 12V connector in the cabin anywhere? Could be a bit important if you need to charge something up especially as the 12V in the boot went along with the cancelled 493 Storage Pack! Need to know ASAP as we might need to add 441 to our spec. Can we still change 4 weeks before it's built? The big R56 brochure we got our hand on yesterday seems to imply you don't get one. Thanks |

Offline | 99% sure you have to specify smokers to get the supply swtched on thats why I speced it as a no cost option. (You will get a mini storage pack - called an ashtray too!) ![]() Was thinking I might need the supply for speed detector, phone etc in the future. If they can't change it SHOUT ! |

Offline | You still get a 12V as standard apparently. This thread might be useful - http://www.mini2.com/forum/2nd-gen-i...hlight=smokers |

Offline | Just checked with my dealer as my R56 is being built next week and he confirmed that the 12v socket is standard if no Smokers Pack is specified, at least according to his detailed spec info. |

| Amiga 500 to PS3 20 Years | On the current car the 12v is active but you get a rather unattrative plastic bung to cover the hole (if you get anything at all). It's better to spec the smokers package to get the more attractive cigarette lighter to fit in the hole while it's not being used. ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's |

| Syd | Or wait and see if it's live and if not get one of NewMINIStuff's excellent looms (simply unplug radio/CD, plug their loom in between and off you go). Not sure if they do one for the rather odd radio/CD in the R56, though................. Worth a call, they are very helpful and knowledgeable (unlike MINI dealers) - 0870 360 9599. UNLESS YOU LIVE LIFE ON THE EDGE, YOU ARE TAKING UP TOO MUCH SPACE |

Offline | Run flats on all the R56s as standard aren't they? ![]() The salesman defo said the socket wasn't live unless the smokers pack was on. Although he also said there wasn't a problem with delivery re storage? He's gone now!!!!! |

Offline | Doubt you need it - i think it is just the cigarette lighter than pops in the hole and the ashtray that u miss out on - if mie doesn't have it I'll make them steal these things out of a demo and they can worry about reordering them as parts! |

Offline | Exactly the same with me. Definitely stated by dealers that although the blank is in place on all cars. The socket will not be active unless smokers pack specified in line with a lot of other manufacturers. Can't be rocket science to connect to the loom but I don't want to be dismantling a new car for no good reason. ![]() |

Offline | I still bet it will work if smokers pack not specified - if I was the dealer I would always specify it, order blanks and then take the lighter and ashtray out of cars that owners didn't want smokers pack on - then you would keep everyone happy and start a collection of spare parts - after all it is free anyway! |

Offline | What the hell? I'll be mad too, quite right! This is absurd... who's bright idea was it to decide that non-smokers wouldn't want access to a 12v socket?? Suuuurely it must be a live socket? |

Offline | Sincerely hope I'm wrong on this but that is exactly how I came to spec the smokers pack JUST for the 12v socket re Speed Detectors, Sat Nav etc. It's certainly not clear and depends on who you have spoken to at the dealerships. I was asked do you want a 12v supply in the front, then you must spec the smokers pack or the socket will be inactive. |

Offline | Thinking about this a bit more, doesn't the new radio/cd provide an aux input for ipods and the like? That must add to the case for a working 12v socket.... (decided I'd carry on speculating regardless) |
