Offline | Lighting package There seems to be some confusion here in the states over whether the mood lighting system comes standard or whether it's an option. Can anyone illuminate me on that? Thanks. |

Offline | Gabe has his ear to the ground with regard to MINIs in the U.S. - He's saying it’s not an option, it’s standard for the U.S. market ... this would explain why it's not seen on the option lists. Pete |

Offline | Thanks for your replies. It's interesting the differences between the package offerings for the UK market and in the US. And how the US list price is less, even without the tax you pay. And how we get the sport button as standard. In the UK, are you able to haggle over the car's price, or are you paying the asking price? Because of the limited production, US dealers are able to command list price and some add more to that. For most other makes found here, you can negotiate prices. Supply and demand. |

| What's Next? | Very occasionally buyers manage to haggle on the list price of new cars, but mostly not. UK dealers do not, however, charge more than list for new cars, so we're better off there. Supply & Demand from MINI's point of view is building just enough cars to not have any surplus stocks they need to sell - very clever! |

Offline | It's a brilliant plan. I know that BMW is trying not to repeat the mistake that Chrysler made in this country. For the past few years, they have been selling a retro 40s model they call the PT Cruiser. The first couple of years they couldn't build them fast enough to meet demand. Then they ramped production up to try and meet the demand. Then, after a while, people got tired of the car. You just started seeing too many of them around. Now, they can't get rid of them. BMW didn't want MINI to follow the same fate. And have it be a flash-in-the-pan model popular today but gone tomorrow. And if you don't want to pay list price, then we'll sell this car to someone else who will. |
