can someone please tell me if the new hifi upgrade is any good, i'm on the verge of putting my order in but just unsure about the hifi option. I have the harmon kardon now and love it but any reviews of the current setup would be much appreciated

It's only because I didn't think you'd be able to do anything at that stage. Honest guv. Plus you get those lurvely (odd) speaker pods in the a-panels.

I've already got amps & rear speakers sorted, will have fronts sorted this week & will be offering my own upgrade with the piilar pods but with much better tweeters

should have thought that you'd be able to just buy the pillar casing so you can mount your own speakers in there

I specced the Hifi upgrade as my dealer told me it would void the warranty if I installed amps & speakers. Plus I've gone the DIY ICE route on previous cars and it can end up costing you ££££s. Hopefully the Hifi upgrade will sound just fine.

any pictures of the A pillar pods?? specced the hi-fi on my mellow yellow but Allan has went and bought the Laser Blue with standard stero.

I have got the Hi-Fi in my car and from what I can tell its a very good sound experience, I am going to really test it tomorrow with some different songs,

The A-piller Speakers are Ace you get the sound right in you face when you turn it up,

BUT I CAN STILL ONLY FIND 8 SPEAKERS, I think BMW were telling Fibs about there being 10.

I collected my S yesterday and I its seems to me that the new BOOST stereo doesn't sound quite as good as the one I had in my 52 Cooper. So maybe worth going for the upgrade.

So does anyone know the answer to this? Only thing I can think is there are 2 in the A Pillar, 2 in each of the doors making six. Then in the back there are two grilles, but a midrange/tweeter sitting on top of the Subwoofers. Anyone else able to shed any light on this?

I think it's a bit like the HK system in that the mini brochure says there are eight speakers when i can only see six, I think there are two in the rear housing..

The rears are "dual voice coil" speakers in the H/K (old MINI) and HiFi Speaker System (new MINI), which is sort of (although not really) "2-in-1" speaker technology. Link: DVC
