Offline | Ipod Interface Does anyone know if the new Ipod interface will allow the display to show ID3 tags? And have more functionality for more than six playlists? I will be ordering it anyway, just wondered. |

Offline | Mine was charged at £180 the brochure says £190 sits in storage. It specifies a 5th gen i-pod and 5 playlists can be accessed via MFSW, id tags show up on display is the info I have been getting. I suspect you can have 4 lists and the whole library? |

| MINI2 Regular | The Radio Boost is the same as the BMW Professional Radio from the 3 Series (E90) It is possible to show ID3 tags on the screen and browse by artist/album It works far better than the original interface and eliminates the need to create 5 nominated playlists. The system also alows you to create MP3 CD's with playlists on and play each one separately, The thing I would really like to see is how the ipod interface intergrates with Factory sat nav? It is also to change certain aspects of the car such a Temp from farenhite to Celesis has anyone with an R56 tried this? I was wondering if this was the same as the E90? just found this BMW AG : BMW iPod interface I can bet the Mini system will be almost identical! Last edited by adscma : Nov 23rd, 2006 at 12:27 AM. |

Offline | The dealer installed American iPod MINI interface for my 2006 is quite buggy. Track selection freezes often. I have to do hard reboots on the iPod every time I plug it in, just so it will recognize the five MINI playlists. It never works for very long on one trip before track navigation and playlist navigation fails. Then it will only play from list 6 and track advance fails. The problem is not the iPod. I upgraded firmware and restored it. I also tried another up to date iPod. Same problem. I wondered if long playlists were taxing it. Same problem regardless. Another issue with the interface--hiss. You don't hear it during long songs. But you surely hear it during quiet and sparse sections. My test song is Clapton's "Lay Down Sally" intro. The hiss is louder than the opening guitar, It's going back to the shop. Fortunately, it's under warranty. I don't get any track ids on the screen. The only advantage is the volume and track navigation with my left hand on steering wheel. Not worth it with all these freezing and buggy issues. |

Offline | My dealer says the ipod link is not available until January. Though he wasn't totally sure how it all worked and didn't know which generation of ipod it supports. He said that if we decide to go ahead, we will need to give them the serial number of the ipod so it can be configured to work properly. All sounds a bit odd to me? Anyone actually got their's yet? Or managed to find any more conclusive information? |

Offline | What is the dealer talking about? The brochure says 5G ipod the mini website 2G...so who knows? Serial number to configure....what........a load of tosh. So you can only link the one i-pod.Don't think so! Believe its an issue between Apple/Mini holding it up....(fibre optics? has been mentioned in a couple of places) |

Offline | Its definately limited to 5 playlists according to the written info knocking about but one can be all tracks but you will have to scroll through ALL the tracks in the BIG playlist. The Sat nav won't give you extra functionality to access all playlists. Thats salesman speak. MFSW becomes essential! These salespeople should know the products better, (apart from Scrogg of course ) |

Offline | That sucks, what's the point of having all your music collection with you if you have to set up playlists, takes the spontaneity out ipod and the aux input I'll say it again is absolute !@?!! sound quality. So another useless MINI ipod solution is on the cards then? |

Offline | The adaptor I have works like that, too: You can get it to display track info and such AND controll it with the radio controlls (and the steering wheel buttons) IF you've pre-set a series of playlists. There is however, another setting on the unit where you use all the controlls of the iPod itself, browsing and selecting tracks just as if you were using an iTrip or similar device. Not as cool as seeing the iPod menu on the Nav... but easier then creating a ton of playlists (or one gigantic one! I have close to 14,000 songs!) and scrolling though them one by one. The difference is the sound quality. The FM transmitteds really suck in comparison to playing directly through the head unit. Maybe the newer unit made for MINI will have more functionality... I guess we'll have to wait and see for sure. |
