pulsing 'heartbeat' alarm indicator

saw a R56 parked up & locked at the weekend & saw the red pulsing alarm on indicator on top of the rev counter. it looks really cool & almost like the car is alive. its a proper pulse rather than just a flash on & off

Cool, isn't it?

Nice to know that, in a world dominated by cost-cutting, MINI can still pay attention to the little touches that make our cars special.

The basic safety and security features of the Cooper will be carried over to the One, so I would imagine it will be.

That's one thing we're going to have to pay extra for in the U.S., although they haven't announced the price yet.

After reading your reply, it sparked my memory that someone on a U.S. mini site had posted about a month ago an ordering guide that listed the alarm at $400 or 2755 SEK. So it looks like the pricing is pretty close to what they're charging in Sweden.

Thanks for the conversion to U.S. dollars.

There you go, little bit cheaper for you.
No problems, glad I could refresh your memory

never saw that no - maybe the alarm on the cooper had been activated at some point?

The pulsating lasts for 16 mins after locking the car, then just flashes one LED. It also flashes 2 after you unlock the car if someone has tried to break in (according to the manual).

I preffered it on the wiper stalks too , It matched the yellow on the opposite stalk for the washer fluid, a bit like sweets .

Doesn't bother me though, I don't have an alarm- MINI were too stingy to fit one
