Piano Black

How durable is the piano black finish? Is it easy to scratch, etc? I am about to order a 07 MCS and am seriosuly thinking about this option.

I can't comment on scratches either BUT the door in the MINI that I took for a test drive, with the Piano Black Trim was covered in fingerprints and smudges. Because of the high gloss finish you will be forever polishing to keep it that way.

I have it in my car and a have to say there is no need to put your hands on piano black trim. And a quick rub with a micro fibre cloth brings it up great . I find it hard to keep the glove box button clean lol,

Now With Toyo Rubber!!

The Piano Black on BMs can scratch & I don't supose the MINI will be any different.

However, the dash area isn't really that vulnerable & it certainly wouldn't put me off ordering if it is what you want - they can all scratch!

Just keep a micro fibre cloth in the glove box - no need for it to scratch it in day to day use, my only concern would be cleaning it with the wrong sort of cloth, you would probably leave marks - but will be ok if you are careful. It does show up greasy marks though due to the high gloss finish. But it looks very cool, so I think you should go for it

Don't know about PB but the brushed aluminium trim scratches very easily. The one I viewed at the dealership recently had several nasty scuff's on it which had gone right through the coating!
