ignition

With a regular car ignition you obviously have the half way point where you click on the electrics, e.g heater, stereo, lights etc

With the new Start/ Stop button on the R56, how does this work? does it all come on as soon as the key is inserted?

key in = ignition point one

push start/stop button without clutch = ignition point two

push start/stop button with clutch down = engine start

If you press the button without your foot on the clutch (which is required to start the car), you can switch on and off the electrics, like in a tradition cars "position 2" on the ignition switch.

If you have comfort access it goes into "radio readiness" as soon as you get in, or if you don't, when you dock the key.

Pretty much the same as manual transmission, just using the foot brake instead of clutch:

Key in = ignition point 1

Push start/stop button without foot on brake = Ignition point 2

Push start/stop button with foot on brake = Engine start

(Obviously all of this only works when in Park!)
