Softening up the glove box...

Because the interior of the glovebox is so very shallow, and the back of the door is hard plastic I find that CD cases etc can rattle a bit in there if not padded by something (like gloves). I'm thinking about trying to cut out some felt or similar to fit the glovebox door back to stop the noise.

Does anyone else find this a little bit of an irritation/issue?

I had the same problem Paul, from the first day that I have picked up the car...what I did is I got a soft padded (leather) CD case and got all my cds in it and problem solved...the other option is to have your cd's in a case on the inside of the drivers sunvisor, but personally I wouldnt go for that...

I've got the glovebox divider fitted to my R56. It's ok ish. I bought it to keep my ipod from sliding about in the glovebox. It does that well. I have it on approval from my dealer, if I don't like it I can get a refund.

The only negatives are it divides an already small glovebox into very small sections. It also doesn't fit very positively. It just lays in place - not clipped. No rattles though.

Out of interest, how much is the glove box divider?

Personally I have trouble fitting anything else much in the glove-box once the manual is in there. I even had to buy a thinner CD case so that I could fit some CDs in there.

If I had a grumble about the R56 vs the old MINI it would be the lack of storage space.

Agreed. Luckily I don't have to store much.

I might take the manual out to give more space.
I used a 'MINI' box that I got from the dealer which had a few small goodies in it.
It's a small rectangular box and is ideal for keeping small loose items that would otherwise fly all over the place :-)
Fergal.

Surely the best way to stop CD cases rattling around in the car is to transfer all your CDs onto an iPod and then leave them at home?

What's the point in paying for the hi-fi upgrade then listening to compressed music?

I have an ipod, but generally prefer to listen to CDs in the car.

In which case, the cheapest/quickest/easiest option is to do what Sir Johnaraz and thrud have already suggested and get a soft CD wallet. It will hold way more CDs than will fit separately in the glovebox and won't rattle at all.
