Mikey, have any of your customers with upgraded HiFi run into a problem when the dealer tries to update R56 software? This thread appeared on NAM: http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...d.php?t=119405

The speculation is that during a software update, before proceeding it first checks the fiber optic CAN bus to verify that everything matches up with what it expects, and aborts otherwise. The HiFi amp does seem to be connected on the CAN bus.

mmm very interesting - not had this issue but then most of my customers don't bother with the hifi mini option.
One way round this would be to leave the hi fi amp in place & partially connected
Its yet another reason though - NOT TO SPEC THE HIFI UPGRADE

I see from thoughs pics, that it looks like most of the interier is taken out before the upgrade, then when done all put back again. Is there a problem with any interier rattles afterwards, or do you put it all back together to a higher standard than it was before ?.

Thats my one !

And before it went in it had several rattles from the dash (at dealers 3 times for rattles before hand)... and now... NONE AT ALL !!!! Stereo sounds brilliant.

Cheers Mike for an excellent piece of work !

We have found various screws & clips stray behind dashes on early R56's - although the later ones dont have this problem.

Thanks for all your replies .

I don't have an R56, but i'm considering getting one. I've been told by the sales guy at my dealers, that the MINI Hi-Fi speaker upgrade isn't as good as the Harmon Kardon upgrade in my current MINI. So i will be seriously considering the newministuff kit. And if the upgrade gets rid of rattles too, so much the better.

Cant believe the MASSIVE difference. Brilliant and a superb job too. Everyone at Mikey's was friendly, polite and nothing was too much trouble.
The sound quality is out of this world compared to what it was like this morning.

Big THANKS to Mikey and his team, it is worth every single penny !!!! Got to be my favourite mod on Sulley to date.

I have a dilema now....... ....... do i ????...... leave windows down and listen to Works guns of Navarone sticking out from under my bumper ???
OR

Roll windows up and crank up the volume for my fave tracks ...?????? Decisions decisions.

Thanks again Mikey, and please put me a cradle on one side for Nano 3!!!!

All WORKED up.
