Fitted our upgrade kit to another S today.
Here is the car stripped

Amp - 500 watt under the front seat
Clarion 16.5cm package in the front doors
Kenwood 6*9's in the rear,
Sound deadening
Sounds lovely

Now when I get the bluetooth sorted

I'll be a happy chappy

mikeythmini: is this upgrade you did here on a non-hi-fi MINI? If so, how did you source the pre-amp signals to the amplifier?

Yes this one was standard boost
I used high level inputs into the amp

Mike, do you do something similar for the earlier Cooper S? I've got a 2005 car with the standard Boost CD which I find pretty poor, and wouldn't mind getting a reasonably priced upgrade. Something like this sounds just the job (pardon the pun!)

As I'm in Leeds, you're not too far away, so should be OK providing this is do-able in a day.

You said the kenwood amp is under the front seat. I see the pic. Is the amp under the carpeting under the front seat. Thats the way the pic represents. If so, what about the heat?

Mikey, You probably won't remember but you fitted a sound system into my previous 53 plate Cooper & you did a fantastic job!! Just a quick question about this upgrade:

Can the standard Headunit do the rest of the kit justice?? I know you cannot change the headunit in an R56 but does it effect the quality of the sound being just a bob standard basic headunit?

Also I was told by my dealer that "any" modifications to my car would make the car no longer covered by the warranty? Have any other people heard of this???

I was impressed with the quality of the job you did on my previous cooper (top notch) & would really love to go for this upgrade, but I'm unsure due to this warranty business!!!!

PS I'm also interested in those clear indicator bulbs!! (I think they might even void it too) Is it my dealer talking bull**** or what??

I'm sure the dealer would carry out warranty work on most things but would possibly refuse to investigate interior squeak and rattle issues. Seeing how much of the interior has been removed and refitted, I would have thought they would be well within their rights too.
