Offline | Help needed removing Gear/Handbrake Gaiters Can anyone offer any eperienced advice on removing the gear stick gaiter and the handbrake grip/gaiter. I can pop the gear knob off OK but the other bits are not as forthcoming, certainly not as easy as in the R53. I can't wait to get my JCW alcantara/carbon bits on..!! cheers Jay. |

Offline | Well I gave up awaiting guidance and persistance has paid off..!! I eventually managed to remove the gear stick gaiter and fit my JCW knob/gaiter. The gaiter does actually pop out, though it requires about ten times the effort needed to remove the knob. You need to place your fingers under the silver ring (pushing down on the original gaiter) and pull. You may need to use a small tool to help leverage, but you must make sure not to damage the plastic of the centre console. I used a piece of very thin plastic shim to lever a small terminal driver against (placed where one of the retaining clips was positioned) and it worked a treat with no damage sustained. I'm very pleased with the feel of the carbon/alcantara JCW, it is of great quality and IMO a vast ergonomic improvement. |

Offline | The JCW does come up slightly taller. I didn't measure how much, but I was hoping it would as is makes it that bit nearer. The JCW knob is surprisingly weighty so it doesn't suffer from losing the original feel of the gearchange. |
