which version is the sat nav with the split screen?

Hi there,

same question. I picked up my mini one r56 with sat nav last Friday and I want to make sure the bmw dealer has given me the latest version.

My version is 2007/1 (it says on the DVD) if that helps you wigman15 and that has split screen.

thanks..that's what i've got but i can't figure out for the life of me how to get the split screen

The split screen mode is a software update performed by the dealer / or on new vehicles from the factory.

The version you are referring to, is the Nav DVD that you put in the DVD drive. This only has the maps - NOT the sat nav software itself.

If you can't see the split screen when you have a route planned then you haven't got split screen update installed. It's not an option you can turn on or off AFAIK (I can't find one anyway).
Mine was updated by the dealer and it was split screen immediately. The nav DVD is unchanged.

I think you may need to go back to your dealer and get the update.

One of the biggest criticisms of the new R56 sat nav was th omission of a split screen function.

One side of the screen shows the map, the other side shows the direction arrows for upcoming turns, etc. Also the display did not show the estimated time of arrival.

This has all been sorted with the latest software update.
