My Mini doesn't have a lights on warning sound, but also, the headlights don't seem to stay on anyway - like if I was using the mainbeam headlights, then pulled up, turned car off took key out of ignition but forgot to turn the switch off on the stalk, there is no warning chime but the lights don't stay on anyway. What if I wanted to leave the lights on? I'm confused!

It's in the manual I'm sure. It's under your personal profile options on the computer. There's various choices for warnings, and time delay settings and such.

Thanks, have looked in the manual (should have done that in the first place I know!) and it would seem that the lights turn off automatically when the engine is off, you have to switch the side lights on afterwards if you want the lights on when the car is off.....if you see what i mean!
