Settings Menu

I am trying to get into the settings menu on my R56 to change the time and date format. The manual (by my reading) says:

1) tap the obc button until "SET/INFO" comes up

2) hold the button down to select set/info

3) tap the obc button until the correct symbol appears

Now, I do 1 and 2 fine but I can only get: change date, change time, check/info, and home. No other settings are available.

I had the exact same problem with a 1 series last week, so I am convinced its something Im doing wrong but just can't figure out what. If someone could write and moron-proof guide I would really appreciate it!

You don't have Sat Nav by any chance do you?

I do, and have spent an embarassingly long amount of time looking for the different settings using the button on the stalk which they mention in the manual, only to find they are accessed through the Sat Nav!!

(Although in my defence, I think they should say that some of these settings are not on the stalk if you have the Sat Nav....)

moog: No I don't have sat nav

Hummer: If you do check/info, that tells you if any errors are present on the car (eg. low fuel, abs). Set/Info brings up another menu, but only has the options I listed. I think my problem might be that I have had the ignition on, but no key in (I have comfort entry). I'll try this after work and let you know

Don't bother setting via the OBC use the menu button on the CD controls far easier and takes about half the time. Half the stuff in the handbook is incorrect or just plain stupid anyhow!

They really should reprint the manual or add something that says *turn ignition on* it would make it a lot easier for everyone, including the dealers/service dept who get phonecalls....

dont remember where i saw it.....

but i think you need to hit a certain mile/km before being able to access the settings menu. For me it was around 200 miles, then i was able to get into the settings menu and set blinkers, locking preference and all those extra little features. hope this helps! (if you haven't got it yet)

I tried to do my D after getting it home with 16 miles on the clock, key was in, but just got change date, change time, check/info, and home. Started the car up, and it made such a difference

I can't get my CD controls to change any settings apart from units of measurement?

as i promised a long time ago, i hope it's not too late! (sorry i m too busy right now ). Anyway, it might be usefull for new members i guess
As Danb asked, the moron-proof guide is coming
1st: push the engine button as it s shown on the picure below (the engine dont need to be started)

then push the button on the left stalk until the following screen appears on the rev counter

then, push slightly the obc multiple times until this screen appears:

then push the obc till the next screen appears:

you re almost set
finally this screen appears on the rev count and you re in

now, push hard the OBC to change a setting or push it mutilple times to see another setting
to leave the setting menu, you ll have 2 options:
- you wait till the screen leaves the settings menu
- you push the OBC multiple times until the HOME screen (see picture below) appears

and you re done! ENJOY

i hope this will help and sorry for the bad quality pictures, i ll try to post better one as soon as possible

Don't forget "insert key" if you have comfort opening. Putting ignition on without having the key in doesn't work
