HiFi Kit Distortion

I picked up my R56 yesterday, and was listnening to the radio last night. I had the volume turned to what I would consider loud, but nowhere near where I expect full volume is. As soon as any tracks with bass came on, distortion started from the front speakers. The distortion seems to be at specific low frequencies.

I remembered reading someone else complaining of the same problem, so came searching on here. Reading this thread, it just sounds as though people have resigned themselves to the fact that HiFi is crap? Does everyone have this problem, and if so why aren't more people kicking up a fuss?

I appreciate speakers need running in to be at there best, but at the volumes I am using it at they should really not be distorting.

Mine did this, the dealer replaced the speakers under warranty. They should not distort or vibrate at decent volumes (not even that loud).

Yes Paul, but they'd probobally change every bolt on the car for the owner of MINI2

Glad to know it was OK after they sorted it though

Id agree but then it depends on how good quality the signal was for the radio, have you tried a CD? Also did you turn the stereo up to "loud" straight away, its best if you play this system gently for a good 10 hours from new...

Like I said, it was loud but not what I would consider too much for new speakers. I have tried it with a CD and got the same problem

Ive had 2 R56's and a total of 3 sets of speakers (hi-fi), all have been total rubbish.
