United-Kingdom Original ipod kit for 2007 mini

Just wondering if anyone knows any dealership would retrofit the original ipod integration kit for a reasonable price ?

My local dealership chandlers brighton charge £350 (inc labour).

I also understand it will also need a firmware upgrade on the car for this kit, so doing a DIY is almost impossible.

Would like to know if anyone have any experience on this ?

£350 may seem a lot, but compared to what some have been quoted, it's pretty reasonable.

The adaptor itself costs £200 therefore at £100 hour labour rate - it's 1.5 hours work. Which is about average. It doesn't take that long if the firmware upgrade works first time, but the system is apparently prone to crashing. This is why some dealers are quoting 2.5 hours labour just to cover themselves.

My advice is - if you really want it, just pay the £350 and try not to think about it too much. Yes, it's expensive but you don't have any other options except the AUX input.

Purple Dave,

Thanks for your advice ... I think I will let the dealership earn the money. I think it's worth it ...

What about adding extra head lamps ? You think it's worth letting them fit it ? But, it's very expensive. Doing a DIY job only costs around £100 rather than 350 for fitting 2.
