Offline | Breaching the Firewall Hi Guys, New member here. I did a search for this and didn't find anything clear- I'm hoping you guys can help. My fiance and I just bought a 2007 Mini Cooper S, and of course we love it. It will be her car primarily, but I will drive it every now and then (more than she thinks). As I firefighter, I'm allowed to install emergency lights in the vehicle so long story short, I'm wondering how I can get wires through the firewall. Usually I just squeeze them through an existing grommet, but I don't know where to look on the mini. The dealer told me to remove the plastic cover that sits under the windshield wipers, and I think I can figure that out. But I could use advice on how to remove parts of the dash on the other side of the firewall- perhaps below the steering wheel, where I can access those same grommets? I'll also be mounting lights along the back ceiling, just inside from the rear hatch. So any advice on getting into the headliner to run the wires would be good too. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer. Karl Karl N. FFII/EMTB/HazMat Tech/PA-C 2007 Mini Cooper S 2004 Toyota 4Runner- "Emergency Response Edition" |

Offline | The easiest way to get through the firewall is to take off the right cowl cover (under the wiper), and next to the battery, you will find a 2" rubber grommet that has a few wires already passing through it. You can cut off one of the blanks, and pass cable through to the passenger compartment. 2007 MCS |

Offline | Once you get through the rubber grommet, fish about 20" of wire through it, and the wires will fall down to the passenger side floor. Really very easy fish. 2007 MCS |
