Angry Wrong dash and door trim.

After waiting for over three months for my 2007 MCS my dealer called the other day saying that
it had arrived.

I went down today to check it out, and to my utter disappointment I noticed that the dash and door trims are the standard checkered pattern and not the brushed alloy I had ordered.

The dealer says that this cannot be changed and there is nothing he can do.

Can anyone confirm that the dash and door trim can be changed by a dealer?
Any idea of the cost?

I would really like to have an idea of what actually can be done before I go back on Monday morning.

That is so annoying!!! You must be very peed of!! Sorry to hear that. Both the dash and door trim can definately be changed by the dealer as my door had a scratch on so the eliptical ring was replaced. Also there was mark on one of the air vents so they removed my brushed alloy trim to fit a new vent. As for cost, you shouldn't pay anything if it is Mini's mistake!! Good luck!

All the dash parts and the door skins can be replaced to get you the what you ordered, but it won't be cheap, which is why the dealer is saying it can't be done as it will be at their cost if you have the order form showing what it should be.

Push for it to be resolved or reject the vehicle and get them to order the correct car and get compensation

Its only a forum you know!

Here's the retrofit kit available to dealers.

RealOEM.COM BMW R56 Cooper S RETROFIT ALU "BRUSHED ALUMINIUM"

(Although those part No's are for a RHD Cooper S, you can change the specs on realoem to get the right parts for your car).

When my first R56 was delivered, it was without SatNav & DAB Radio.

Mini Garage rejected it for me, then gave me lots of free things for my having to wait an extra month for the proper one to come through.

Go for as many free things as you can - it's the only time you're likely to get them

Well, I've got two options.

a. He said they can change the dash trim but not the doors!
(He also showed me the brochure which states clearly -in Greek- that the brushed alloy
dash trim comes with silver matte door trims -can someone confirm this-)
After I sent him the link for the parts to the door trim he confest that it was too expensive for
them to cover (why BMW hellas or BMW de doesn't cover it I don't now).

b. Reject and re-order (with a new 3 month wait time plus a possilbe hike in the price -this is
Greece after all!!-)

I'm going to go with option b and take my chances that they get it right this time.

Brushed alloy trim is on the dash and door handles only. The eliptical rings on the doors are made of plastic in a colour called grey silver. This is however, a 'plain' silver with no chequered pattern which I expect you have on your car I can't understand why the dealer can't change this as my dealer did it for me!

Good luck whatever you choose!!

It sounds like your dealer has a backward way of doing things, for customer satisfaction and inconvenience to you they should replace the items as previosuly mentioned.
If you get another car, be sure not ta pay any price difference and stick with the original order price.

You're in control here.

I would say that they can either order a replacement car in the correct spec and freeze the price, or replace it to spec FOC. Or you'll go elsewhere, even another car manufacturer, with your money.

They way they're behaving is pathetic.

Update:

He finally caved.
He's gonna order the dash trim and swap out the door trim from another Cooper S (fine by me).
So I should actually have the car next Wednesday.

Checked out the rest of the car (everything OK).
This was an up and down week, one day deciding to wait another 3 months, next day getting my hopes up.

I really can't wait to drive it, and really hoping it's worth the wait and the anguish.

my understanding is that those who order brushed alloy (and I was going to myself before opting for piano black) will get a car that has B.A on the dash, but this is complemented with fluid silver door trims rather than B.A door trims, which do not exist.....so you only get alloy on the dash...you expecting this, I trust

According to the UK ordering guide:
Brushed Aluminum includes interior [dash] trim and front door arm in real aluminum, Elliptical door ring in Silver Grey Matt.
