Offline | MP3 CD creation Hi I want to create some MP3 cd's ready for when my Dooper arrives. I know that you can obviously skip between tracks on the MINI stereo but can you actually skip between the different albums on the cd. If so, how? Thanks. |

| Mini Madness | It has been a while since I used an MP3 CD in my R53, but IIRC you can create the CD with subfolders for different albums (or playlists) named from Mini1 to Mini6. To access the different folders you use the 6 numbered buttons on the head unit. I guess the new Mini stereo will operate in a similar manner. Chris ![]() 2007 Clubman Cooper D ~ 2004 Cooper S JCW |

Offline | You can only cycle through your albums if you have created them in their own folder in the first place, so take care when you create your playlist. Viewing them is just the same as the Windows Explorer structure, and looks something like this: + One For the Road -+ Classical -+ Electronic -+ Jazz --+ Brad Mehldau --+ Chick Corea --+ Pat Metheny ---+ Imaginary Day ---+ One Quiet Night ---+ Speaking of Now -+ Other Stuff Use the rotary controller to scroll through the folders, then push to select your choice, either Genre, Artist, Album or Title or other folder title. The radio pre-set buttons are soft keys and are not assigned when using a CD, other than toggling between 'List' and 'Track' view, or selecting 'Return' which will display the track number of the disk (not of the album). Having selected an album, the default display is 'List' view, but you can select 'Track' view for full Artist and Track titles, and is visually quite impressive. If you have MFSW, you can now scan back and forth using the < and > buttons. |

Offline | MP3- cd creation - SOS!!! hi guys, I'm really struggling to create an MP3 that works in my R56 cd player. I've tried all sorts, using 192 bit rate, cd-r disc and dropping the files in folders using regular window - car radio display keeps saying cd error and ejects it... i wasted about 4 discs trying this. ![]() can someone talk me through it!!!! Offline | Not an R56 owner but I'm guessing the drag and drop method of burning discs through windows won't work. What music playing software do you use? As mentioned above you probably need to use Hero, itunes, windows media player , or similar to burn the disc before it works in the MINI. I use itunes the process is essentially the same way you burn any disc in itunes, just that the option for mp3 disc needs to be checked in preferences/advanced/burning. ![]() MODERN MINI OSCARS 2008 - BEST COOPER WINNER |

Offline | thanks humph. I'll try using windows media player 11 tonight (vista) this could solve. it. But what i did notice is that when using WMP11, it asks whether you want to burn audio cd or data cd - i would pick former, but when i do it then states a capacity of 70 mins playback and as i add the tracks it clearly exceeds this. With data disc capacity is the normal 700 mb, which is ample for my 180mb of MP3 tracks. you're right i used windows so far to burn data disc, just by dragging and dropping the file. i'll give WMP11 a whirl tonight |

Offline | Sorry don't use WMP at all for music. itunes gives you the option of burning audio (normal CD), data CD (700mb), and mp3 CD. Not sure if there is a difference between the last two. Perhaps WMP doesn't support the burning of mp3 CDs. ![]() MODERN MINI OSCARS 2008 - BEST COOPER WINNER |

Offline | you can use iTunes easily to burn an mp3 cd. The bad news is when you play it in the Mini it will play albums in alphabetical order, not album order. For that reason I don't use mp3 cds in mine. |

Offline | NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! You must choose DATA CD. If you chose audio it will just re convert your MP3s into "cd" format and hence why you're seeing a limit of 70 mins of music. when making an mp3 CD for the car think of it as if you were making a CD to put in another computer. I have used the standard Vista CD burning wizard for this and it works just fine. |

Offline | MP3 cd's I have created my MP3 CD's using Roxio Easy CD Creator. It puts the MP3 files on the CD and does not convert to CD music format. Correct me if i'm wrong but I think it may also add some information so that the CD player recognises it as a music CD and not just a data CD. When you play it on the CD player in the MNI you can then select the different albums and tracks and it displays the track and artist information also. Hope this help. |

| MINI2 Regular | Choosing "Music CD" is for creating a CD that would play in a normal stereo. However, I believe you need .wav files for this rather than MP3s so you don't get anywhere near as many tracks, just like a normal album. I've converted MP3s to WAVs before, to create a normal album, using Winamp, which is free for the basic version and is capable of doing it. |

Offline | What bitrates can the Boost CD player cope with? 192? 320? Variable bit rates?? How about disc formats - can it cope with 700MB CD-R discs? What about CD-RWs? I'm going to scrub the CD changer from my list of desired options and start burning all of my car-based CDs to CD-R. As well as saving me £300 and freeing up the space in the cubby hole, it also means not driving around with a couple of hundred quid's worth of CD's in the glove box (not that anyone would want to steal any of the music *I* listen to, but it's nice not to run the risk). |
