Offline | Ipod + Bluetooth Q's Now im not great with techy stuff (although im good at breaking it ) so sorry if I sound a bit vague!Ive had a look around the NewMINIstuff website but i dont really understand what im looking at So Mikey any help is greatly appreciated here! ![]() At the moment ive ordered the 6 disc changer in the Dooper as its what i have currently. But im considering buying an Ipod Touch, is it right you cant have the CD changer and the Ipod connector? (though i realise you wouldnt need both!) What if i carried on and got the CD changer and then decided afterwards I wanted to add the Ipod Touch? Also just recently ive been using my phone more in the car (on the loudspeaker and not physically holding it) but i dont really want to pay the £600 (is that how much it is?) for the MINI bluetooth. Is there another way to do it? The Dooper is having the factory Nav + MFSW if that makes any differences. ![]() Last edited by supa-dupa-cooper : Nov 18th, 2007 at 02:58 PM. |

Offline | You really don't need the CD changer in my opinion. The MP3 CD player can get the same amount of tracks on one disk. With the bluetooth/UBS option you can use either an iPod or a USB pendrive to hold 1000s of tracks. The bluetooth/usb phone option is very clever. It interrupts the radio/CD/MP3 and the satnav whenever you get a call. The £600 includes the MFSW and the armrest too, so I reckon it's good value as a bundle. As you have already specified the (expensive) satnav, I'd go for it, as the whole thing is integrated. |

Offline | Ive been so used to the CD changer in this car thats why i ordered it, that and not owning an Ipod or MP3 player At the moment ive got 7 MP3 CDs in the car full of music ![]() Didnt realise the MINI bluetooth came with the other things. I dont want the armrest though, I dont really like it and I found it got in the way on the test drive I took. |

Offline | Boooo...regret not getting the bluetooth now, seein as I've got the armrest and wanted the MFSW ![]() I've got a TomTom tho and that's got a handsfree kit with it, cheaper than the bluetooth/USB and the satnav option. But tbh, the screen looks gorgeous and I would've had it put on if it didn't increase my delivery date by 2 weeks. The armrest is a must for me, I'm such a lazy driver! So comfy for the commute! Sounds like you've got an awesome Dooper on the way, with all the mods!! Pity it's such a long time away for you... ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | If you're speccing the sat nav then i'd recommend you get the bluetooth also. Very clever bit of kit and if you don't like the armrest, you can just move it out of the way or even take it out... For £600 I think it's a worthwhile option as the bundle and works very well with the nav. ![]() |

Offline | I've said this in other posts - so I hope it's true! - but I'm fairly sure you can take the armrest off if you want. It looks like you just remove the rear cupholder, undo two bolts, and you're done: RealOEM.COM * BMW R56 Cooper ARMREST, FRONT USB must be the way to go. Each CD only holds 0.7GB, so even a small iPod or USB drive (bigger than 4.2GB) easily beats the CD-changer for capacity. You also get the 'secret' storage compartment back, plus you save £295! I think you're fairly local to me, so you can have a look at how it works in my Dooper if you like! |

Offline | I just picked up my new CooperD on Friday afternoon and I love it. It has the Bluetooth kit and it works brilliantly with my BlackBerry even though that is not listed as a supported handset. I am, however, having trouble with the USB interface. I have a couple of 4.2GB USB keys which I've dumped MP3s onto but I can't find a way to get it to load all of the tracks. The manual mentions a 20,000 track limit but I am nowhere near that. The tracks that it does find work perfectly though. Can anyone who has got this working well offer any advice on directory structure and/or MP3 Tags to get this working? Thanks, Dave |

Offline | I just used Windows Media Player on my PC to Sync the tracks to my USB stick. It puts all the tags in for you. The directrory structure was a folder called Music, then a subfolder for each Artist. I don;t think you can put more than 255 tracks in each folder. I'll have a look today to check. I haven't got an iPod, just a USB stick, but as far as I know, yes, it does show both. Please note you must have the Bluetooth/USB option and the £40 iPod USB cable to see track names using your iPod. |

Offline | Ive a quick work out and it will cost roughly the same to change to the Ipod connector, and buy an Ipod Touch as it is to spec the CD changer. Is the Ipod Touch still compatible with it as a normal Ipod? Not sure what to do now, and i still think the MINI bluetooth is expensive ![]() How much would some form of bluetooth be afterwards, any ideas? Mikey? |

Offline | You may want to bear in mind that the iPod touch does not have the click wheel, so is slightly less comfortable if you are just going to play music on it. (even though it is the most impressive looking piece of kit since the invention of the steam engine...) I am not interested in bluetooth because I do not use phone in car - ever, so I am looking at iPod connector. Changer takes a lot of space and it will be a lot more fiddly to get podcasts uploaded etc. |
