HI guys in the final stages of specing my new R56 ![]() so I def want SAT NAV, and Bluetooth for my phone, NOW want I want is my Ipod to be controlled my my steering wheel and the text displayed on my sat nav screen. I have read that I can buy a Ipod adaptor, or a USB plug with an Ipod adaptor, do they work??? What is the best thing?? I'm thinking the usb might be the best option (Expandability) but I only use an Ipod in the MINI I don't think I have ever used the cd player in the mini, are very rarley use the FM componet unless I go to Brisbane Cheers Brett |

Offline | Bluetooth USB Audio interface Hi I bought my R56 MCS two weeks ago with Bluetooth USB Audio interface and the Hi-Fi upgrade. I am using the BMW Y cable (cca 55 Euro) to control the iPOD. It works as promised (tested with 160GB ipod Classic and 8GB Ipod Nano). What is surprising (or maybe not?) is that I get much better sound quality using USB sticks, SD and Compactflash cards (through USB converters) ! (with USB stick you can use folders , playlists are not supported ) Cool is the voice command for the telephone (if you have The NAV I was told you can use voice commands for the NAV and the Audio system too !) . I have not ordered the NAV because where I live (SLOVENIA) there are no good maps available - so useless for me) and also the amount MINI wants is far too high for the crap that you can see also in beemers (BMW) . I use a pocket pc phone (T-Mobile MDA compact III) where I have Garmin and TomTom installed. (at the moment Garmin has best coverage for eastern european countries).. In my experience TomTom has the best software ever (fast, intuitive). I tried the Bluetouth interface with several phones - it works great ! If you want to use the armrest to charge your phone and use the car antena (note: the phone has to have an antena out possibility - otherwise it does not make much sense) I I used to drive BMW, Audis before but this little beast has got a soul ! I have never had so much fun driving a car. It has a really smooth engine and excellent gearbox. (do not forget to order the sport button and the slip differntial !) Music is very important to me - so the only thing that bothers me is the mediocre HiFi . This car deserves a much better audio ! I hope you will enjoy your car as much as I do ! |
