I have red various posts which suggest to me that there is no chance of fitting an aftermarket headunit into the R56 Mini. Does anyone know if there will be any chance of this happening in the future (e.g. a DIN headunit mask becoming available to buy??) I really like the new MINI but am put off by this as i like to fully upgrade my sound system on new cars. Any help much appreciated! Cheers

I doubt its gonna happen as it controls the dash display + if the car needs any dealership work - their computer will see an error if the radio is missing & refuse to proceed

Do yourself a favour & get one of the last of the R53 Minis

In Japan there is a company that is offering 1 or 2 DIM head unit brackets. I'll see if I can get some info...

what about the space above the glove box, while we are happy enoug with the stock system (i think its called HiFi in your markets) because its a lease car i did notice the little cubby hole in the dash looks almost perfect Din size and nice and hidden when your car is parked, biggest issue i can see is not being able to control it easily while driving.

I don't see why they couldn't sell the adaptors seperatly though...
