Offline | Anyone used a USB 2.5" HDD for music? I am getting ready to order a MCS. I have a question on the "Comfort bluetooth phone prep with USB" option. With it, can it play music from a typical USB thumb drive? Also has anyone tried using a USB Hard drive? I understand it would have to be formatted as FAT32 or at least FAT. Hopefully FAT32 do to size limitations of FAT. It would seam that it would require using a Notebook type HDD (also known as a 2.5" HDD) because they don't need external power sources. It would be great to have a 120GB HDD! Also, does anyone know if the NAV option is installed, can it display JPEG pictures from an external source? |

Offline | FAT32 is fine since its 2.5GB. But I would recommend formatting with NTFS. With FAT32 you can't copy anything over 4GB eg transferring a film from a PC to the HDD, as feature films are normally over 4GB. Sorry can't help you with NAV question. |

| MINI2 Master | If it's going to be plugged in to the MINI, then I would think it's unlikely that it will work with NTFS. The other thing to think about is power. Best to find someone who's done it, though, or find someone locally who has a device you can try. Oli |

Offline | I have not seen any successful reports of using an HDD. Here is a post describing some unsuccessful attempts: http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...63#post1906063 |

Offline | Something encouraging in the thread I linked above... check this out, which apparently works for USB on BMW systems: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80270 |

Offline | I'd be tempted to try one of the Solid State Drives instead of the 2.5" HD - for two reasons - very shock resistant and very low power requirements - although they do seem a little expensive still. |
