Scotland How do you remove Boost stereo? Cooper 2007

I need to remove the factory fitted Boost stereo and have managed to remove the front facea which contains all the controls.I am left with the plastic silver front which even after removal of the retaining screws dosent allow the stereo to slide out-The appears to be something at the top and just below the the speedo preventing it's removal.
Are there any other bits and pieces I need to remove before I can get the stereo out?
Does the whole console slip down a half inch or so -if so how can I do it.?
I have managed to get the stereo to drop down slightly but there dosent seem to be enough play in the cables at the back to allow me to see/get my hands in to disconnect the wires.

I have attached a photo to let you see the progress so far

The wife will not be chuffed if I stuff up her pride and joy

basically you cant - it's combined with the speedo etc so you can't go after market.

All you can do is upgrade the speakers and add amps etc which makes it sound half decent.

So How does the Speedo come out

I hadn't banked on having to dismantle the whole of the R6 but if the speedo is incorporated into the Boost radio and the whole shooting match has to come out has anyone a step by step process on how to do it?
I have got the toggle fascia off so as Magnus Magnuson used to say "Ive started so I'll finish"
Are the trims simply snapped in or are they screwed on.I have seen on this site that there are 23 odd screws to remove!!!!!!!!
I am scared of damaging the trims

If I F**** my wifes pride and joy I am history yet I'm too young to die

Silly question...but why you removing it ? Without the stereo in place the display at the bottom of the speedo will probably not work as there is a optic link between them.

To upgrade the stereo... you leave the exisiting head unit, and add a seperate amp and upgrade the speakers... NewMINIStuff.com

And having seen you do this a few times it is not a task that I would even dare try, its a job for professionals only as there is far too much risk of damaging something which will cost a lot of money to replace But I'd more than happily take apart my dash, just not an R56 even with instructions and having seen it done

Thats why we hoping you can install ours next week when the car arrives

The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive?
