ipod playlist on sat nav screen

Hi there, I am not very good with this subject but would like to find out. If anyone has sat nav and an ipod, when you connect your ipod, is there a way where your playlist appears on the sat nav screen in a list and you can select it from there?

or do you have to select it from the ipod still

I don't have sat nav at the moment and find it a pain to select songs looking at the ipod using the scroll wheel when driving.

cheers for your help!!

If its a 2nd Gen MINI then yes, the playlists can appear on the screen, dont ask me how I only had a sneaky peak and havent got my own to play with yet

Not sure on the 1st Gen MINI, but I cant see it being too different?

1st gen you will need a Intravee to make this happen.

Intravee? No, you have to have the screen to control the Ipod.

I have Ipod & Sat Nav

Ipod is controlled by either the Steering wheel or the Joystick

Playlists are visible on the screen. The Ipod effectively replaces a 6CD changer & CD1 - CD6 do different things (Playlists / Albums / Artists / Songs etc)

You only have 1 "drill" level, so you cannot go to an artist, then select an album, then select the song, you have artist then all songs...

Also, remember there is a limit for amount of songs / playlists you can have....

but it works well )

No.... It must be connected to the OEM unit.

For the playlists to appear do you have to use the iPod kit, or will it also work with the USB port that comes with bluetooth?

Yes and Yes..... (Provided I have this reg thing right).

02-06 models have a few options for bluetooth and Ipod. For bluetooth, you can install the factory version at 1200 USD or go to Bimmernav.com and they have a bluetooth NAV solution for text on screen as well. For Ipod, you can install the Intravee (also Bimmernav.com) which will display text on Nav. Those really are the only options for us OEM nav folks.

thanks for the help, ive looked on bimmernav but its really confusing. can you show me the links to the products i would need to buy. also 1200USD just for bluetooth is insane!!

the intravee sounds good, depends on how much its going to cost though i guess

For Ipod on NAV you will need two items:

Bimmernav.com Online Store

and

"Alpine KCA-420i" - Shopping.com

The KCA-420i is the piece that actually controls the Ipod. The intravee is an ibus translator that displays the text.

For the Bluetooth....

Bimmernav.com Online Store

Notice at the bottom that the NAV one is an extra 400 USD. Total cost of 850 USD.

Innovation doesn’t come from following the same path over and over.
