Hiya

Short of pulling the door cards off my mini, can anybody please advise me what are the standard door speaker sizes in the R56 mini? It has the standard stereo not the hi-fi upgrade.

I had this same question, came up with 6.5" for the lower and 4" for the upper hole, but as some have stated they might even accept 7", I'm puzzled. Same goes for the 6x9 in the back?

I suppose nobody has exact dimension? depth of holes included.

Also, is rewiring how difficult? I was thinking of pulling new wire coupled to the originals, any possible drawbacks in this old method?

Yeah, I haven't dared remove the door panels myself either...

I measured the diameter with a ruler...exactly 6 across the speaker (excluding the plastic bit at side). I can measure the hole spacing etc...but not tonight as it is chucking it down and think if I open the garage to get to the replaced speakers I'll loose my garage door....a weeeee bit windy up here tonight.

Think I also have my 6x9's so can do the same there...

Pretty sure you have to be real careful with the hight etc of any tweeters otherwise they don't fit.

As NewMINIStuff uses these, standard 6.5" will fit.

Theres little point in upgrading without getting the best your budget allows, as at least I'm not willing to open all the trims more than once.

I have had a look at Focal and Dynaudio ranges, not the highend ones, but the medium price 2-way components. An amplifier would be a must have, as I was thinking of using the 6x9s as dedicated bass, but low passed from amp settings, so I could change the tweeter on if I needed.
