Question Stereo Upgrade Help

Hi Anyone who can help,

I have got a standard R56 copper and i am not happy with the sound from the stereo. So i wont to upgrade it.

I realy wont to be able to fit my after market headunit, does anyone know if this is possible if i was to make a new facia for it or something?

Does anyone know the current wattage of the standard head unit in the mini cooper R56.

Also does any one know the best make and wattage speakers to replace the standard one in the rear with and what amp to use. Can you still get good sound and loud sound with lots of bass even if use the standard head unit?

Does anyone have any information about how to remove the rear quaters, door cards and the dash to get to the standard stereo?

Any help would be most appreciated.

I just wont to have louder sound that is better quality and lots of bass. I already have a amp and a bass box out of my old car which i can fit straight in with the correct information.

Some one help me please.

Cheers

Rob

Rob, an aftermarket headunit can be fitted in either the secret storage compartment or glovebox as far as I am aware.

Rob, I read it on here I think, and I think it can be wired in and the radios will work, but don't take my word on it, hopefully somebody how knows this stuff will come in here and answer most of these questions.

seems maddness when you can get another method that works great, sounds great and looks 100% standard.

How would you work one hidden in the dash ? And what happens if you have any electrical issues under warranty, can't see a dealer touching a car with such modifications.

Do some searches on here. You will find plenty of stuff people have done. Upgrading amp & speakers sounds like the best plan and that should give you decent enough sound.

There are plenty of posts and threads ranging from quite simple to complete upgrading madness...

I can recommend the upgrade my mikey @ newministuff.... I got it done and sounds great. If you want more bass he can add a bass box in boot, I don't find mine lacking and did not want to loose the boot. It is small in teh first place without a bass box there.

As per my email
Looking at the amp - it will do a sub or the 6*9's not both
You can use the 6*9's, you can use the sub, you can use the amp to power the sub
You will need an aditional amp to drive the speakers
This loom (top one in list) will enable you to add your amp - NewMINIStuff.com

We do have an upgrade package specifically for the R56 Mini - available to buy or fitted. NewMINIStuff.com
This gives a very good loud clean sound with good bass, you could if required add your sub & amp to this package but you will loose your boot.
