URGENT Help Needed!

URGENT! Help Needed

I am posting this thread on behalf of my brother (minione7), because he currently has no access to a computer.

My brother purchased one of the wiring looms off Mikey to upgrade is his speakers and add an amp etc and is currently trying to fit it but he has a few questions, which are:

1) On the new wiring loom which RCA connection is for the front speakers and which is for the back speakers?

2) Is there an earthing point to earth the amp.?

3) How does he get access to the rear speakers?

4) Is there a special place in the car for earthing or can it been done anywhere?

5) Is there a certain place where you are meant to route the power cable.

Can somebody help urgently because the car is currently in bits.

Thanks.
Tom, posting on behalf of Rob.

1) On the new wiring loom which RCA connection is for the front speakers and which is for the back speakers? One connected to the purples & greens is REAR, whites & greys FRONT

2) Is there an earthing point to earth the amp.? Earth it to the body of the car - depends where your mounting the amp

3) How does he get access to the rear speakers? Remove the B & C pillar trims, these will reveal screws holding the rear panels in place (You will also have to remove the rear seats)

4) Is there a special place in the car for earthing or can it been done anywhere? There are some good existing earth points - I use one in the sill as I put my amps under the front seat

5) Is there a certain place where you are meant to route the power cable. Under the carpet as far from existing wires as possible

Can somebody help urgently because the car is currently in bits.

Thanks.

Hope the above helps

Hi Mikey,

How do you access the fixing screws behind the pilars?

Why? Has that got something to do with side impact airbags?

Yes, you will trip the Airbag light and force a trip to the dealers to get it turned off.

The screws are behind the 'Airbag' label caps, this may be useful.

Yes behind the airbag sign is a screw - then when the pillar is off you will see the screw for the quarter panel

These earthing points... The one by the sill specifically. Are they marked? (I'll be putting my amp under the seat like Mike suggests...) Can't wait to get started! (a little scared though!)

Mikey,

How do you get the 'airbag cover thing' off the B Pillar Post?

when i was adding an amp to my R56, i accidently tried connecting the audio to the airbag cables! (as i was told my a member of halfrauds it was my adio cables) and i now have to get the light reset. i took it in and was supposed to cost £40.99 but the ecu wouldnt talk to the diagnostics so now will cost me around another £300!

so be careful lol

Geez... Scary indeed. I assume that was an accident, but how can that be avoided? Any tips?

Use one of my looms then no need to start chopping into the factory loom - & steer clear of a certain national chain

Wow.... so either you would have turned the radio on and been hit by an airbag or had a crash and suddenly heard the voice of Terry Wogan...

Either is pretty frightening to be honest!
