For those who don't know, briefly, it's a universal iPod adapter that has a proper control unit and an iPod-esque display so gives 100% control in your car.

In my old Golf, I must have gone through four different iPod solutions including the likes of Alpine and Kenwood etc and this is by far the best i've used. It is a little bit more cumbersome and some will love and hate, but personally I don't find it intrusive whatsoever and I love the fact it has full control of the iPod. Sound quality is excellent also.

Here are some pics - the display doesn't look as pale in the flesh it has a nice bright backlight, i'll try to get some pics when it gets dark.

Anyway, if anyone has any questions fire away, but I would recommend this to anyone.

Tom

Hey Tom,

Just wondering how you powered the adapter? I really fancy picking one of these up.

Hiya

At the minute it's just being powered off the cigarette lighter. When I get around to installing the rest of my ICE I intend to take +12v feed off something to neaten things up. There is the adapter to do this included with the kit.

I'm looking for an ipod interface for my R56, and I like the look of this. How is it attached to the dash? Does it just use self adhesive pads that come with the kit. I don't want to drill any holes in my dash front.

Also, how does it connect to the ipod? Is it via the 3.5mm headphone jack, or via the port on the bottom of the ipod?

Sorry, lots of questions, but I will be ordering this from uk, as these kits are $299 over here, so I want to be sure, as I won't be able to take it back.

You can stick or screw the unti to the dash.
It connects to the port on the bottom of the ipod.

Hey got mine all sorted, really pleased with it but one thing bothers me.... I thought the bass was very weak. So having a look at this afternoon, if you plug the phono cable from the unit and move it to the headphone out on the iPod, the sound is dramatically better! Anyone else found this?

I have thins kit in my R50 Cooper and got it installed by a local ICE specialist, as I was a little unsure whether I would be capable of doing it.

Had to order an Aux In cable from Mikeythemini as they couldn't hard wire it in for me at the garage.

Fitted the cable myself (took me a little while, but I got there in the end). I reckon, even with my limited ability, even I could have installed the kit myself in the first place and saved myself a bit of cash.

There are plenty of DIY threads on here with all the info you need to get the job done really. May just take you a little while and a lot of patience.

Picking up a live feed & Bargain Price HK

Hi Guys, Just fitted one of these in my new clubman yesterday got it for £19 in the Argos clearance shop 'clearance bargains' (Google it it wouldn't let me paste the URL) Clearance Bargains - hundreds of bargains available every day![/url]
Its in and working but I currently have it plugged into the cigarette lighter.

Anyone got any advice on picking up a live feed? I don't want to start ripping trim out without some idea of where to look. Thanks

hi there, is it hard to hide the cables? do you use the ciggy lighter or is it taken off live feed? if it's the latter, does it come in wires and instructions to do this?

sorry about the questions, it's just i'm really interested in getting this look all nice and tidy!

any help appreciated, thanks!

If you are interested I could make up a hideaway loom for the product you have here - power & a aux in connector so you dont need to plug a jack into the aux socket

Hi Mike, that sounds really cool and useful but i haven't got a clue what you're talking about

I'm only considering this HK thing because i can use it's toggle thing like an ipod but a lot safer while i'm driving but the only thing holding me back is installing the darn thing...

... if i can hide away all the cables and avoid using the aux in and dreaded cig lighter socket then that would be seriously great!

how much will your thingy cost me? Also, any help with installing the whole thing at all? (bit cheeky really i know but i seriously need some help with my r56 ).

Many thanks Mike
