| MINI2 Regular | Harman/Kardon Drive + Play Hey, Just thought i'd post this thread as i've just got one of these and I think it's an absolutely brilliant option for those looking for iPod adapter for their MINI's. ![]() For those who don't know, briefly, it's a universal iPod adapter that has a proper control unit and an iPod-esque display so gives 100% control in your car. In my old Golf, I must have gone through four different iPod solutions including the likes of Alpine and Kenwood etc and this is by far the best i've used. It is a little bit more cumbersome and some will love and hate, but personally I don't find it intrusive whatsoever and I love the fact it has full control of the iPod. Sound quality is excellent also. Here are some pics - the display doesn't look as pale in the flesh it has a nice bright backlight, i'll try to get some pics when it gets dark. Anyway, if anyone has any questions fire away, but I would recommend this to anyone. ![]() Tom |

| MINI2 Regular | Thanks. ![]() Didn't fancy the MINI one, at least not for what they charge. ![]() I don't think it has full iPod control anyway, or am I wrong? And yeah the keyring is a MINI accessory, £15 if I remember correctly, though I asked them to throw it in when I bought the car. ![]() |

Offline | sorry but i don't really understand how this works do you control it on the monitor by the wheel??? Do you have to fit it in the arm rest as it looks like a perfect fit, and if i may ask how much did it all cost?? thanks rochie |

| MINI2 Regular | Yes, the controller (pic 2) acts as your iPod scroll wheel does with the buttons in the same place, and the lcd displays what your iPod would normally also. ![]() You can put the iPod wherever you want, but as you say it fits perfectly in the armrest so I thought that would be the best place for it. ![]() |

Offline | Hi, I have the kit fitted in my 1st gen cooper, ties in quite nicely with the stock harman kardon system. I'll post some pictures later as my install is a bit stealthier to keep prying eyes out (I obviously live in a rougher area!!).I got mine for under £30 brand new from Ebay, Can't recommend enough, good quality kit and fairly straight forward to install, Cheers, Rich. |

Offline | HK pictures Here are the pictures of my HK ipod interface. As I said I've chosen to have the display a bit more out of sight, below the centre console. You can angle the screen however you want to so it is still easily visible from the drivers seat, but not easily visible from outside the car. The control knob gives you full control over the ipod. I personally have an old Ipod mini (with a broken screen) constantly in the car, tucked out of sight behind the display screen. The part that the screen is attached to is like a sort of rubber surround so it lifts easily to slip the Ipod into place. As I say, can't recommend highly enough. Any questions give me a shout, Cheers. Rich. |

| MINI2 Regular | Yeah it plugs in through the aux-in. No it doesn't charge at the same time unfortunately. RichTea - that looks great. I did consider putting my screen down there also but then decided I would like it next to the rev counter as it's a bit more in the line of sight. ![]() |

Offline | "next to the rev counter as it's a bit more in the line of sight" Yeah, in an ideal world I would have had mine there as well but I thought it might be a bit too tempting for some scrot ! Generally I put something on before i start driving so it isn't too much of an issue. I'm sure the set up does charge the Ipod, in fact I'm sure it does as I've never had to take the Ipod out to charge it I have it on constantly for the last 3 weeks or so. Also I do actually have mine connected via the FM socket at the back of the radio, although as T8MS_X says, you can use Aux in as well if you have it. Rich. |
