Set the iPod to flat and put it on full volume. If you start messing with EQ on the iPod, you'll probably won't get the sound you want and it'll mix with the MINIs settings.

That's what I do anyway .

Agreed. You can change the aux volume from the menus to get the iPod sound level to be the same as your radio stations or CDs. As for settings, I tend to run treble +1, bass +1/0/-1 depending on what I'm listening to and how loud I'm running, but I have the fader at -4 (towards the back). This was the biggest benefit, especially for running loud. It seems like the back speakers can take a bit more before they distort on bass than the fronts, so this way you can get the bass and volume from the rears without overdriving the fronts. I got the idea from another thread on here somewhere.

Now proud owner of a 2007 Cooper S!

Whilst we're on the subject, what is GONG and what is the 'S Volume'??

Did you guys get any kind of instruction manual on the Hi-Fi? There is nothing in the Handbook?

No idea what GONG is, sorry?

S-volume is a speed volume setting. The higher you set it, the more the volume will increase so you can still hear it as you road speed (engine & road noise) increase.

well ive tried all the suggestions & found that some work for me better than others. i definitely feel fader -5 is correct, but have put bass +2 & treble +2. The thing i don't agree on is setting the ipod to flat. I have set it to Loudness & i feel this gives a better sound. every other car stereo i have had has had a loud button on it which i have always turned on as it gave a better sound, so setting the ipod to loudness is only doing the same thing as the stereo doesn't have a loud button. anyway thanks for all your ideas.
