Yes, another iPod question

I have an R56 Cooper S and recently was given an 80GB iPod Classic..I have looked through all the other related posts but cannot find an answer to my probably very basic question.

I don't have Bluetooth or the iPod glovebox thingy, just the aux input. I understand that I can plug the ipod into that but mine only came with a usb lead. Is an ipod cable with an aux connection easy to come by? I rang BMW and they quoted me $140 for a cable, is this necessary?

Thanks!

Is the sound quality actually any better when using the AUX-Dock Connector Cable compared to the AUX-AUX?
