Offline | No harder - the great thing about this solution is you don't need to remove the stereo |

Offline | I've just fitted this with my new 3G iPhone. Removing the Aux socket was the hardest bit, I couldn't reach round and push it out, but after a lot of brute force it did come out. The rest was straight forward. It works ok with the iPhone. Apple, in their wisdom, have made the new phone a couple of mm's wider than the previous model, so the iPhone adapter supplied is no good. However, it does fit directly in the cradle and if you add the backing plate no.1, then it's a good fit. When you connect the phone, it warns you that it's not an approved connector and it won't charge the phone. All the features, like iPod and Safari do work ok though. It produces a good sound and what's more important for Mini owners - it does look good! I'll get some pics if you are interested. |

Offline | Thats good to know - thanks for the info. I have a new JCW on order for Sept 1 delivery by which time I hope to have upgraded from 1st gen iPhone to the 3G. I was at the dealers yesterday pondering whether to go with their (expensive) iPod connector before finding this thread. Do you have the basic or full bluetooth and can you tell me how well the phone function and iPod controls work from the MF steering wheel? Must say I'd be a bit nervous about applying brute force to my new pride and joy ![]() Cheers. |

Offline | BAD NEWS - having done some testing & mails to & from dension - the new 3g version of the iphone will not charge with this product. Apple have removed the 12v charging circuit so it is on 5volt charging only & therefore will not charge in 99% of ipod accesories out there ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | Wanting you to buy a completely new rig of iPhone accessories, clearly. Cheeky buggers, I'm sure that wasn't necessary. Just a question for Mikey about the No-Holes Mount. What's the storage pack that you can choose to have or not to have, I assume that's an addon I could have purchased for the MINI? How can I find out whether I have that? EDIT: After a bit of searching it would appear I do have the storage package, and have subsequently placed my order for one of these bad boys ![]() Last edited by Lonz : Jul 17th, 2008 at 01:00 PM. |

Offline | I don't have the bluetooth or the MF steering wheel, which is why I went with this option. As a way of getting the ipod part to play through the car radio it's ideal. Then I just use the phone on loudspeaker and that works perfectly well too. The only drawback is changing tracks etc, as that means hands away from the steering wheel... I think the lack of battery charging could be an issue as it appears to be a power hungry device. I'm not sure how others who have installed this managed the removal of the aux socket. I did no damage at all, it was just tough to get out as you can only get at the left side clip. It might be easier if you've got long thin fingers! Good luck with finding a 3G phone though! |
