| Syd | I've been shot down for saying this before - can't remember the counter arguement, because I didn't agree........ These things take months in concept, design, testing, type approval and other bureaucratic crap. So, they ARE known about, well in advance. Why aren't ALL the dealers properly briefed and allowed to give out the info? Surely, that gets more interest, more orders, more deposits, more £££ ??!! Selected "leaks" to dubious press hacks, just result in their views and opinions and mis-information, which don't sell cars to me. It won't make me go to the hidious overcrowded debacles, badged as "car shows", either. I just want to go and have a coffee and a chat with my dealer. I have found MINI sales people a committed and enthusiastic bunch (let down by ***** support from MINI and sometimes ***** service departments) and MINI owners very brand loyal. Surely that is more of an asset, than someone whose favorite car changes each week? UNLESS YOU LIVE LIFE ON THE EDGE, YOU ARE TAKING UP TOO MUCH SPACE |

Offline | Hmm, I think you might be missing the point. Rather than "4x4" I suspect they're talking about "AWD" = all-wheel drive. You know, like Mitsu EVO and Subaru WRX STi - seriously quick stuff! This is a great way for the R56 to cope with more power ... without shredding front tyres, that is, provided the AWD doesn't add too much weight. Imagine 250hp/185kW on a kerb weight of say 1230kg (100kg more than R56 MCS), is good for 6.6kg/kW which I estimate to mean a 0-100km/hr time of around 5.5s thanks to increased traction with AWD. That's a match for EVO and WRX STi ... from a MINI!!! Bring it on! |

| Flying Finn | Rather than a AWD, I'd rather go for the Renault Clio V6 route. I mean, how cool is that? Take a standard family hatchback, ditch common sense (among other things) and do this: Renault Clio V6 Have to give it to Renault, they had some cojones. Hope BMW could be as brave. The back seats are pretty useless anyway ![]() |

Offline | I note that the Clio is the current model, as the report is dated March, 2004. Can't recollect seeing any on the road, have you? Still, we're a docile lot in the south ![]() "I get by with a little help from my friends" |

| Flying Finn | Nope, haven't seen them on the road really. Seems to be a sort of collectors' item. Mostly read about it in some mags, incl Evo. I do not think that this was really business for Renault, but in my mind that just underlines the point It is refreshing when the bean counters do not always have the last word... |

Offline | There are a couple V6 Clios running about in Bristol! Not that many generally though, think I've seen about 4-5 since they came out in about 2002. Awesome car for thrills I would have thought ![]() |
