Offline | Facory Fit Aero Kit Hi all, Today I visited the dealership to confirm final specs (I want something that looks like the car on the JCW brochure). In discussions (when I was trying to get them to give me an allowance on the front/rear bumpers) they announced that they have had cars arrive with the Aerokit factory fitted!! Other dealerships say that they only get them in primed form. Others that they are pre-painted. Has anyone received (or been offered) a factory fitted aerokit? Also, is £100 per corner the standard wheel offer, and has anyone had the dealer offer to buy back the seats (I'm ordering works seats) Is it not 2007? - What sort of backwards company provides a new car along with unwanted front/rear bumpers, seats and wheels. Surely a mini dealership should have some use for these! (they even offered to deliver ll these bits seperately to my home address! Great!) ...Mad |

| I am not a number!! | Right, think I have kind of understood most of that. JCW Aero kit is a dealer fit option, the most probably reason will be that the car is crash tested, and homolgated in one form, the standard form. If someone wants to buy the kit then they fit at the dealership, doing this means that a second body style doesn't need to be fully homologated as its is an option aftermarket accessory. It comes either two ways, painted from the parts depot in Germany, or primed from the UK parts depot for the dealer to paint it. The standard bumpers are fairly new, not seen any for sale yet, but on the old R50 you could maybe get about £50-100 for each one, useful if you have had a bump etc. So eBay or MINI2 classifieds. Standard wheels generally when taken off the car and sold on usually sell for around £450-500, you can list them in the classifieds on here, or on eBay. So the dealer is of course paying less than you should get for them, but its a case of do you want the hassle? Seats, not sure what these will sell for, might do well with them being 07, and someone might want to try putting them in the R50 model. But best bet here is to hold onto them, as come trade in time you will get nothing extra for the JCW seats so you could sell them on and do fairly well, maybe 50% of your purchase price. As for the dealer buying things back, and the questioning of why the car doesn't come like you want it, well its so that they can sell the accessories to you, to give you more options, and to make more money. Its not just cars that do this, its life, if you don't like it then don't buy the parts, but its just the way it is. Its only a forum you know! ![]() |

| MINI2 Senior | I am getting the "old" bits given to me when I collect my car with the JCW aero kit...and then planning on selling on Ebay, though last set I say went for about £40 for front and £40 for rear bumpers,...so not a great deal. I was hoping to get closer to £150 for the lot. Maybe hold on till a few more R56's on road and see if prices pick up. I will ask my dealer about buying bits off me...see what he says, though I can probably guess the answer. Possibly swap for some other extras out his parts department... well I fancy front spots so would be nice if it covered them. |

Offline | Well, I finally bought! Decided there was no benefit in getting JCW seats at purchase time. So I will see if the standard sports ones are good or bad! Interestingly. The dealer said the factory painted aerokits only come in red or yellow. Didn't bother me as I bought red. But what an odd thing for mini to do! So for an unwanted pair of red bumpers, ebay here we go! (will anyone buy them!?) ...Mad |

Offline | I got the standard £100 per corner back for the wheels (chilli pack 17's). Against some R105's. Bumpers are being delivered with the car. And they wouldnt offer a penny against the seats. Thus I removed the JCW seats from my order (The car would have ended up toon ear to 30K anyway by the time I had finished!) Also, I didnt feel as bad ordering full leather having the standard sports seats. I wasnt happy having to order full leather, then remove the seats just to have the rear in leather! Maybe I should have asked if they will give me money against my old bonnet scoop and boot handle ...Mad |
