When you mention 1200 miles, is this a run-in period, suppose I will be informed of this tomorrow when I get my car fitted...?

Soon to be in the £1100 fitted club...

And the additional insurance premium was not too much of a shock at £20.83 for the remaining 5 months cover on my existing policy (and they recorded the fact that it was a R56 JCW tuning kit).

Sooooooooooooo excited for tomorrow....

I wouldn't bother with the running in procedure as its not the best way to get the engine to seal properly. Contentious but I've never had any problems with this method...

Snap!!!! Any one would think she had to pay for it lol, knowing Ali filling up a car is probably incompatible with her nail extentions (thats me banished from Woodmans).

(only playing ali)

P.S I cant remember the rattles it could be.... a) you have broke it lol or b) 1 or more of Alisons nail extentions thats come lose and got lost within the dash .

Different people do different things during the running period, i got told 1500miles not taking it over 3000rpm, i have done 6000 miles so when i get the JCW kit fitted i will be doing the same sort of run if necessary.

Just to clarify, the run in period is for a brand new car/engine. There is no run in period for the JCW tuning kit itself.

Its good to hear so many happy people enjoying their JCW kits.
I had mine done, kit 415, 3 weeks ago and that really seemed to let it breathe better with a nice little burble from the rear pipes.
I can also recommend installing the Alta R56 intercooler and new IC 5ply hoses. The hoses smooth out the flow of air whilst getting rid of that stupid IC muffler.
The IC is about 3 times the originals size and really increases the torque and HP.

I stuck my standard R56 MCS on the rollers before the JCW kit and the Intercooler and the readings were all up by a minimum of 15% across the entire rev range. It maxed out at 18% around 4800RPM. All that while the ambient temperature in the workshop was 36 degrees C. Basically these mods give me at the wheels what the standard flywheel outputs are. Cooler temps will mean even better outputs!

Its only controversial because people are still following old fashioned advice when it comes to the running in procedure. I've been doing it that way for years on both race and road engines and I've yet to break one.

You might just take a look at some pads. The brakes calipers themselves are pretty top notch for anything but the most intencive track day or racing. I went to EBC Redstuff pads (Greenstuff are pretty good, too) and WOW !!! Three track days + two autocross events and never any signs of fading. It really shows what thos calipers are capable of... a cheaper alternative than a big brake kit. Then again you don't get the sexy big calipers or anything, but...
