What is everybody getting on a long run ?.

In 2500 miles i have averaged 32.2MPG ( OBC ) and this is mainly city / shortish trips ( 6miles ) together with longer trips at the weekends. On the longer trips i don't believe i'm getting more than 38-40MPG sat at 75MPH for 60-120 mile trips. I put this down to it being tight on run in. I did 300 miles at the weekend and upped my OBC to 32.6MPG. Now this means i was getting no more than 38MPG.

MINI state 55mpg, and although i don't expect to get this i for sure usually getter closer than this on all my previous cars.

Anybody else have this issue ?.

Oh, other than that this car is truely eye wateringly good

You live in the US and you're worried about the mpg of your Mini?

The book figures are to be taken with a pinch of salt - car was probably being driven at below the legal limit on mostly flat terrain at a test centre or even that might just be the engine bench result - Just like how many car makers state the bhp the engine made on the bench - no in the car.

IIRC the official figures for an 08 model year MCS is 45 city, 50 combined and 55mpg on a long run. I'm not worried at my average or even at all, but my point is that the actual is WAY WAY off that what is claimed. Yes i know that the claimed figure is always almost impossible to get, but i'm always far closer than this, i mean 30-40% low is huge.

Last time i looked i live in Scotland

And i'm not worried, just trying to get a poll of other users figures as it's not as good as i had expected on a long run.

I mean i could get this with my R53MCS on a long run, but only 22mpg combined...........go figure

Sorry i had seen Rams pics before after all. Not a fan of what he's done to the front to be honest. It's very 'in the mould' of what VW would / has done with their range of cars.

Where's all my petrol gone?

Yep - looks like I'm not the only one who's disappointed with the consumption on their R56 JCW. It's been averaging 35-38 mpg all on longish A/B road runs. I used to get 32 mpg with the R53 but then again it was a lot slower....

Hi All

Well my 2 week old MCS has done 700 miles and is only getting 35,7mpg without the JCW. So I have ordered and paid Woodmans for the kit and it is going in on Tuesday next week to get the kit installed, if I am getting that without the JCW maybe it will stay the same surely it can't get too much worse..

Happy Days.

Scotland? There's oil underneath Scotland? I knew there was an extinct (hopefully) volcano underneath Edinburgh Castle, but oil? No way!
