Interesting, sounds like it could be a bit of a bargain.

An additional 2bhp over the previous car well that's progress!

I doubt it'll worry the like of Roland too much

When you consider the Cooper S now is very closely matched to the old 210 JCW S, this should, in performance terms, "Whoop it's bottom", as I believe the young people say.

That'll be the 175bhp Cooper S that's well matched to the 210bhp JCW I assume?

Seriously, I know what you mean (the turbo engine has a broader spread of torque), but it is interesting that it's "only" 212 bhp after all the optimistic hype about 230+ bhp that's been published over the last year or so

Forget BHP, it's the torque that matters. Even the current Cooper S has more than the old Works.

It's a shame it's dropped as just about 220 hp was on the cars for quite a while, but torque figures (which unfortunately remain a little foggy), as Mo says are very important, and should be impressive.

You can get an upgrade for 1600 pounds now, it breaks it up to around 190bhp.
This price includes all engine modifications and fitment.
Am I to take it that this is the stage 1 kit?

I don't need convincing about torque, I drive a 295 lb/ft / 400 NM turbo diesel car for my job! If it is to be a torque monster, I wonder why they published the bhp figure alone?

Probably because most people just look at the bhp.

This isn't official news at all. I couldn't get anything near solid information on the torque figure unfortunately.
