the standard MINI Cooper S engine receives modified pistons, air filter, air intake passage, catalytic converter, exhaust components, electronic sensors and engine management system.

Does this mean they finally use the bonnet scoop

This is not a road legal vehicle, although private buyers can purchase it.

Basically this seems the same engine work as the upcoming JCW car (road legal), but is in race spec only.

its about time they made a hardcore 'proper' racer. Built for one purpose rather than converting a road car and keeping crap such as headlining, door cards, carpet inside.

Maybe it will get decent brakes too

Looks mint though but perhaps aimed at snatching some high profile series action like the Clios on the BTCC undercard perhaps. I hope not its blinkin expensive stuff.
I heard talk of a more direct involement form BMW / Mini maybe this is it?

Well seeing as Formula BMW is disappearing off the TOCA package next year maybe there is a slot for it.

It would need to do a lot to take the limelight off the Clio cup though. The Clio cup is the premier one make series in the UK. 40+ cars at just about every meeting. The cars are £20500 + VAT IIRC so that makes a massive difference.

If there only £20500 that would explain why some of driving is so bad. Why is the torque on the Mini quoted as 280nm on overboost, if it's a racing car would'nt it be overboosting constantly.
