I see that Minspeed have an ITG foam filter to suit the R56 Works

I had my airbox off last night to look at fitment. The paper filter is exactly the same as the R53 Works version. However i did notice a feature that may stop the ITG fitting ( may be an oversight by Minspeed ) so have e-mailed them for clarification before ordering.

It may induce a bit more noise to the cabin

$85 + shipping / duty.

Japper keep us up to date on this one as thinking about kit soon, any idea of gain and would this effect insurance.

Can't see there being any gain, but it helped throttle responce on my R53MCS ( JCM Box )

It may add a bit more induction noise too

Insurance................................not sure, must admit i didn't declare it on last car.

Just a thought, does the new box have any flaps or anything to cancel out the sound at lower revs like the old one?

Nope, as it's not connected to the bulkhead panel like the old one.

It seems that Minspeed thought this would fit as the JCW part no. between R53 & R56 are the same. However i noticed when i looked at mine last night that BMW have been very clever in moulding a second securing lug ( not needed at all ) below the filter that does still fits around the OEM version but i'm pretty sure will stop the ITG from fitting.

Im going to take pics again tonight of the area in question to send to Peter at Minspeed. I'll post them here too

Pics of the filter / fitment

Looking at the pics of the ITG filter on Minspeeds website, it seems the filter has a solid end and not a 'double plate' end like the OEM filter. If this is true then as you can see from the pics, the 'V Shaped' protrusion will prevent the filter fitting.

Clever of BMW to mould this feature in. They know it will make things harder for the aftermarket supplier
