Offline | Please help all Tuning Kit owners Hi all, Had my kit fitted yesterday, turned out to be a very long day. I suspect my car is suffering from a software glitch that will be looked at in the week but before then I have the following questions for you. 1. Did you notice an improvement in induction noise when first driving the car? 2. DId the noise from the air filter improve over time? 3. Can you hear the turbo blow off when driving hard? I know the exhaust has a sort of running in period and will change over time, but I'm not sure the same should apply to air filters? Mine sounds very similar to stock at the moment, but I'm having problems with the air con light always flashing so something is wrong somewhere. Anyone know if a software change is able to change the induction sound? I suspect my car may not be running the Works code at the moment... Thanks for any help Kev |

| Six cylinders two turbos | difficult one for me to answer as I only ran my car for a week in standard form. Certainly there is more exhaust noise now than 2 weeks ago and it has always (bear in mind I have been running in) felt quicker, apart from that cant say I have noticed any turbo noise of difference in induction noise... 135i M sport convertible |

Offline | Drove and order a JCW car today - can't really say that it is much much louder over stock. Defo faster. Just as an aside - the downpipe is not changed so - the GTT De-Cat pipe is compatible with the JCW tuning kit. - I'll be getting mine done soon after I pick up MY05 MINI COOPER S - DS/B - GTT OPTIMISED- THANKS FOR THE RIDE - ENTER THE R56 JCW |

Offline | Don't worry it will be going back and getting fixed, I just wanted others opinions on the noise after fitting the kit. The dealers demo car definitely sounded better than mine does, I know the exhaust will change after a few miles but didn't think air filters were the same. The interior noise was a large part of what made me want to buy the kit, the demo car did sound a lot better than my car when pushed really hard. I'll be pretty dissapointed if things don't improve. |

Offline | Kev, I hardly noticed any difference in induction noise. In fact it is pretty much the same (unless I have bad hearing!) I have done 400 miles now with the kit fitted and it the exhaust may have deepened slightly. But very minimal. But i haven't gained any induction roar. Never heard any blow of valves, wastegate noises or anything turboish other than the turbos whining (which I can only really hear with the windows open).I dont recall hearing the turbos whining before the kit was done. The airbox is still a big plastic box. I don't really expect too much noise from it. (as you would from adding an open cone filter for example) Overall, I would say I am a bit disappointed in the noise. To me it is pretty much the same as when I bought the car. The car does feel quicker however! So I am still happy with the tuning kit. ...Mad |

Offline | Unfortunately due to work commitments I can't get the car looked at till next Friday, however I had a chat with the dealer and they suspect the demo car maybe had a loose connection around the airbox. They seemed kinda surprised about the sounds I described hearing on my test drive and all of your comments seem to suggest my kit is normal. They plan to have a look at their demo to see if they can find anything. I've found that the exhaust sound has improved slightly, and maybe the induction sound too, but its not the sucking noise the demo car made so I guess the dealer is correct. I think when I get the car sorted I'll take the top off the airbox and see what that sounds like..... I'm still kinda disappointed it doesn't sound louder, but then it is nice that its not loud when cruising. I also didn't really notice the extra power, but then I don't think driving a Mini One whilst the work was being done helped! Even though it doesn't feel much different to me I do find myself speeding a fair bit now on familiar roads, guess my brain needs to adjust to the kit. ![]() |

| MINI2 Master | Kev, you can't take the airbox 'lid' off and run it as an open filter. The filter is retained in the 'lid' not in the lower box. Give your kit some more miles because mine is still getting louder at 1100 miles. It even pops / snarls at higher ( 4500-5000 rpm ) revs. Can't remember it doing that when i picked it up.06 HB/W MCS Chilli |

| Six cylinders two turbos | I was thinking about that on the way into work this morning. It certainly feels punchier than my old car especially for overtaking etc and certainly feels as quick, but I am still getting used to the feel of the new car so I reckon for outright pace I would still be quicker in my old one. 135i M sport convertible |

Offline | Folks, I've had my kit about 2 weeks now. Like many of the other guys I was slightly disappointed by the lack of a considerable change in the exhaust note inside the cabin thought this does seem to have got a bit more throaty as the exhaust has been run in. Performance wise I'm very happy. Its not a big difference but its quicker off the mark and pulls for longer... If you are a bit disillusioned with the exhaust note, try standing 6 feet behind the car and getting a mate to rev it. For me the sound was infinitely better when I was downwind...my mate even said its sounds a bit like a Ferrari's engine note! ![]() Steve |
