BI have the same problem i would show her the survey i have then start being generous, not to full on then take a trip to the dealers if anything needs looked at and get the demo JCW to drive then lay it on heavy when you have the car, then go for Glasses guide for resale value and hope it recovers some of the money spent on resale, then be honest and please don't try Pauls idea as i think you may need a trip to A&E and it could be messy. I think start with explaining how much fun you both could have with the extra power and how special it will be. Sorry im in the same position so you will have to justifie the cost and that is not easy i feel some overtime coming on, all the best Derek

Dont tell her, it's definately the best way to go, I've done this many times when buying things
for the car and it works. Ok, you'll have a bit of earache for a few hours, but you'll have your
works kit and I usually find that the missus settles down,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,eventually

From a womens perspective I would have to agree with pubert, don't tell her.
Just give her the credit card for a few hours down the shopping centre - that'll soften the blow a bit.
