Offline | I'd just thought I'd share this bit of useless info'... The Ferrari 308 GTS, which is the one that Tom Selleck used to drive in the TV show Magnum PI, accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 6.7 seconds, which is about the same as the JCW stage 1 tuned MCS without the dodgy moustache! ![]() So go and tell your friends.... Offline | I know this sounds really bizarre and I'm not one who usually has dreams but last night in my sleep I was driving a Ferrari 308 and I remember being all excited about driving it and then being hugely dissapointed and I rememer thinking how times had moved on because my MCS felt a damn sight quicker.I bet if the claimed 308 figure was 6.7 it probably wouldn't do that..lots of older supercars seem to have been sold with rather grand claims for their performance ...![]() |

Offline | Car is goin great,I have noticed a few things recently though, the dash is rattling a bit, if you hold the vent on the dash top it seems to stop so it seems to be the vent, having said that I noticed with my last one that the rattling seems to stop the more miles you get on it.. The gearbox also does the 'honking' sort of noise when changing from third to second at anything above 15-20mph ![]() I don't notice it much which obviously means I'm using the brakes instead of engine braking.I noticed this not that long after having it but what with my last MO seeming to spend most of the first year at the dealers I didn't want to go back to the dealers about this just yet . You don't want to spend this sort of cash and then be back at the dealers. I know it's a known fault on here but not sure if MINI are admitting to it yet. Still enjoying the power although it's alarming how quickly you get used to it and then want more......power corrupts....absolute powere corrupts absolutley ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Thanks for that Derek, I'll take it in if and when I know there is a fix, it's quite a common fault from what i have read. Non of the MINI gearboxes have been problem free, my first MO had the 'can't get it in to first or reverse' problem , particlarly annoying at traffic lights, the second MO had three gearboxes all of which were not great, very noisy and 'loose' feeling and then this current one. The Midland gearbox in the first one was very nice and smooth to use the Gertrag in the 04 MO was horrid but despite the 'honking' noise on my new MCS I think it is the best and smoothest of the three ![]() |
