There is no confirmed information on this product, but if you search for Factory JCW you will find the thread about the stage two kit with the rumours on it, as it is rumoured to be a factory built car, about 218bhp, more agresive and hard core than the standard car, more in line with the GP special edition

The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive?

Latest rumour from Motoringfile is that it'll be a factory model with different engine kit and the JCW brake kit. No JCW suspension, or special bodykit... those will all be dealer fit still to rake in the £££s for Mini.

Hi Den,

I think the general consensus is that the Stage 1 kit that's currently available will always be available as a retrofit by the dealers - the Stage 2 car will be a factory works fitted vehicle, not available for retrofit.

From motoring file:

"In between US Clubman and 1 Series debuts at the LA Autoshow, we managed to get some further inside info on the new factory JCW MINI.

We know the car will make it’s public debut at the Geneva Motor Show next March. Now we can finally confirm that the factory JCW MINI will be released for sale worldwide in June of 2008. We’re not clear if it will be labeled as a 2008 or 2009 at this time but we hope to have some clarification by the Geneva Motorshow in March.

In the meantime, check back Monday for some further JCW news."

Not wishing to be a kill joy or rain on anyone's parade, but isn't 192 bhp enough in an R56? In the short time that I've owned my R56 JCW, I've found that 192 bhp is sometimes too much for the car if the road surface is less than bone dry.

A couple of times I've dropped from 6th to 3rd to over-take a slower vehicle and the front wheels have lost traction and the traction control has cut in. I've then switched the TC off, but when the LSD bites it gets a bit snatchy.

So do we really need more than 199ft lb of torque? Isn't 0 to 60mph in six and a bit seconds and 145 mph top speed enough in an R56?

There is a difference between power and usable power!

We're into the web season here in Washington (one word=fallwinterspring ) and I would have to agree. The Stage I is a hangful in the wet. Squirmy on every take-off. A little squggley during the changes to 2nd, 3rd and 4th. No traction control kicking in on me, though... just the LSD transferring powered back and forth as the runflats struggle to get a grip. I can't imagine what even more power would be like.

That said, I'd be willing to try!

Well i must have a good one then, because traction on mine is eye watering. My std R53MCS would light up it's front tyres in the first four gears in the wet. So in answer to the original question................yes i think the R56 chassis can handle more power.

I think tyres are a major thing here, with runflats we had traction problems in our R53 MCS and the GP. The GP is now on Michelin non runflats and traction is not a problem.

Just a small, off-topic question: What happens if a tyre gets punchured in the middle of no where and you don't have runflats on???

You either put the spare tyre on, if you have one or you have a long walk home!

I agree with you, I think the R56 chassis can handle more power than 192 bhp. However, I don't think the 18" Bridgestone Potenza runflat tyres that I have on my MCS can!

Any suggestions out there?

Same tyres as mine and they seem to grip remarkably well considering the power / torque.

Thanks guys for the responses I'm just not sure about the 192 kit - don't get me wrong it's awsome but the 2 cars I've driven which were both well run in didn't feel different enough to my standard S......... Maybe I should sell the other kidney and save up some pennies towards the JCW car coming out

Japper, how many miles have you done on the Potenza runflats? Maybe mine still have to be scrubbed in?

3K Miles now

IIRC they were good after 500 miles but seem to have got a little better.

I don't do traffic light grand prix's but i very rarely trigger the traction control............LSD yes but not TC. I drive with the TC turned off a lot of the time and find very little difference, so turn it off far less than i did on my R53MCS even with the MTH tune.

I think Japper must have an advantage with the heat in his home town melting the tar and making his tyre's stick to the road or he drive's with the music on full tilt so can't hear his tyre's screaming for there life, or maybe it's because i have no LSD.

Lol, heat in Aberdeen....................funny

The LSD is an absolute must in my opinion. This thing just sticks and goes.

By the way i'm too old to have my music loud. A night in Babylon last night only strengthend that point beyond any doubt

Japper so thats the answer no LSD, not the heat then, or the music volume.
