The car is actually for my GF and we are trying to decide between MCS and JCW. The searches I have completed tell me that it is worth the extra money (still need to convince GF though..) but I would be grateful if anyone could help me with some questions about the practicalities...

1. How does the power upgrade kit impact on fuel consumption?
2. Is the insurance a lot more expensive on the JCW?
3. Is the factory warranty still valid?
4. Is there any advantage (i.e. cost) of getting the kit installed as part of the order vs fitting later?

The car will replac my GF's 5 year old Fiat Punto so the sooner we get it ordered the better!!

Any help that you can give would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Simon

1. My fuel consumption stayed the same from 30-33mpg, but I do absolutly cane it!!
2. No increase in insurance for me, in fact my premium fell by £90 this year.
3. Yes
4. Makes no difference

Do it, the car is so much more exciting to drive now, and it was bloody good before!

Talking about wheel weights and how everyone moans the MINI range of alloys are heavy.

Yes they are compared to aftermarket but i've just found the weight of the Audi 18" S3 (8p) alloys.

12.2kgs each compared to 10.6kgs for the JCW R105's.

Thanks to everyone for the replies.

In the end, decided to go for a Cooper S without the JCW pack as the price of the car was starting to spiral!!

Looking forward to taking delivery in late March, just need to remember that this is not my car (hoping the GF lets me borrow it from time to timr though!).
