Offline | I wouldn't waste your money on a Works if I were any of you guys. I drive a modded R52 Cooper S and also a R56 Cooper S pretty much most days. I took out the brand new Cooper S Works at Stratstone MINI Doncaster, its a nice car to look at, all the aero kit, big wheels, etc. But it just didn't feel or sound any better or quicker than the standard S! There was slightly more popping from the exhuast, but nothing like the original Cooper S. In my humble opinion its just too little for too much. Get a standard S if you have to, and get some specialist to put a custom exhaust on and air filter. Once again, MINI has pulled its clients pants down and given us a good spanking. I'm a rather bitter MINI customer at present, MINI refused to honour my TLC pack for an oil service, car under 5 years, BUT, has 50,100 miles on the clock! (I couldn't book it in sooner due to service interval.) They also told me where to get off concerning faulty xenon headlights claiming its my fault I didn't take out the extended warranty. They pass the buck far too much for my liking. I'll never buy MINI again. But hey... thats away from the subject, take out a Cooper S Works, make your own mind up, just don't expect it to be a revelation on top of a standard S. March James - "The Rogue" - DS/W MCS |

Offline | You didn't drive the factory Works model that this thread is discussing, it's not out yet! You drove the dealer installed tuning kit which has been debated in other threads. In short it smoothes the power delivery and extends the power range slightly. The exhaust is louder and there is more of an air intake sound. Though if your used to modded cars these may not be louder enough, but they are an improvement on the standard car. Plus you get to keep the warranty intact and won't have any issues should the worst happen. For just over a grand its pretty good value IMO and more than the sum of its parts. |
