Wonder if the suspension is market dependent, as the press release/story has quite a lot on the suspension, this was issued by MINI UK.

ON TOPIC:
the only reason for me to buy this works is the "acceptability" by my clients
this in comparison witt superfast beemers or PboxsterS of TTroadster
I am dissapointed by the spec, GP seems still faster (and my fathers 330cDiesel is same 0-100km/h)

Perhaps it is so, but the way how you drive this car has nothing to do with BMW or a other sportscar. I know a few guys they changed from TT's and BMW's to Cooper S because it is much more fun to drive them. How many times have you try out 0-100? I tried a 135 which is nice and very fast car but i prefer a Cooper S. I don't need a car which is few seconds faster to230km/h....for what? In switzerland we have to many radarstations so i do need a car which i can drive with 60, 80 or little bit more km to enjoy the ride....for me the cooper Works will be perfect. As i said....only or me!

My resolve not to buy one of these is weakening....getting so tempted to put an order in. When exactly will we be getting a full spec/price list for the UK... (I know I could read the whole thread, but getting old and lazy)

Germany will be releasing full specs, and opening the order books from week 16 (week beginning 14 April). UK will be doing the same mid - late April. Expect price variation from that originally announced (likely to be a bit higher with a slightly higher spec than German Cars).

From my dealer:

Unfortunately I bring slightly bad news in that MINI have confirmed that the JCW Clubman won’t be available until March 2009.

This is because the body kit which will be fitted to the JCW models as standard will not be available for the Clubman until then. I must admit I am quite disappointed with this, but the reason for it is due to the fact that a suitable body won’t be available until then and MINI felt it would be unfair if S hatch drivers sported a body kit and Clubman owners did not!

WhatCar? Claim: “As hot hatches go, it’s hotter than a blacksmith’s armpit.”

Is that suggesting that the cars will come from the factory with the JCW body kit on then?

Are we to assume they are same as the Challenge cars? Just saying they are 'adapted' means nothing really.

I should imagine similar, but not quite the same....

The engine we know has the uprated components from the Challenge cars, though most probably with the wick turned down ever so slightly for longetivity. The brakes i'd guess will be the same although with a different pad compound more suited to road use than track, suspension again re-tuned for road use.

I hope that this isn't true. Because although I want the Clubman version, I couldn't give two hoots about a bodykit. What I di care about is delivery times - I'm not leaving my dealer with a grand of my money for a whole year, and I can't make do with my current car for more than a few more months either. If this *is* true, my order will be cancelled and I'll have to rethink getting a JCW. Or even a MINI, if I get sufficiently ticked off.

I can see the issue that they have created for themselves with the Hatch - al the publicity materials show the Hatch with the body kit on. It's hard for MINI to then turn around and say that it's a dealer-fit extra.

But the publicity shots of the Clubman show it sans body kit. Fine. I'll take it like it is in the photos, please, now rather than next year.

And if the Hatch people don't mind seeing the price go up a little for a factory-fit body kit, fine - but I quite liked the price of the Clubman in the publicity materials too, and don't want to see it rise just because of some extra plastic and fibreglass. It'd make for an interesting comparison, if the two JCWs ended up being about the same proce - after the usual premium for the Clubman is balanced out with a premium for the Hatch plus body kit.

Dammit, I *want* a JCW. I was prepared to delay buying a new car by an extra couple of months, so was happy to wait when I first heard about the new JCW. But shenanigans like delaying the launch for 6-9 months beyond that which they've already talked about is going to be a deal-breaker

Here here. I'm not so fussed about a bodykit on a Clubman and really can't believe it warrants a long delay!

I personally cannot see them delaying it THAT long - i assumed the delay would be a month or so when i heard about it. First hatch's are supposedly due late july, so waiting till following March for the clubby would be another 8-9 months! That surely cannot be correct! Can manufacturing some bumpers really take that long?

Yea is your dealer sure about those details can we check with another dealer to make sure cause that sounds way to long for a body kit, especially when its not even coming standerd anywhere else, that I know of (unless im reading the forum wrong).....
