Offline | I was really looking forward to the release of the JCW Stage 2 kit as was ready to part with some hard earned cash again, but I'm initially disappointed. I was hoping that the Stage 2 kit would have about 220bhp and turn the R56 MCS into a sub 6 second 0 to 60mph car, low 5's would have been nice! And have a transmission and suspension set-up that could deal with the extra power so that you could use all the power in real world driving and not just on the track. I'll still probably buy one though.... |

Offline | My thoughts exactly, 6.5 is not good enough! Swiper is not worth changing for that. Will reserve judgement until I drive one but I think I will be keeping him. Mini obsessed |

Offline | Does look very interesting, I bet the performance figures are conservative I'll wait to read a full road test. I'd like to see a bog standard one to see what you get for your £20.5k, will it look like a standard S apart from the wheels on the outside and ant. headling and a/c 160mph speedo on the in? ![]() Addicted to MINI... | A Mini doing 0-60 in sub 6 seconds? Thats not an easy task! The current mazda is the currently the most powerful fwd car with 265bhp and manages it in 6 mostly because its a bigger car than the mini therefore has better traction, even still it struggles massively with its power. Mini is probably trying to strike the ultimate balance between power and driveability. I reckon it'll be quite a different machine to an S and even an S JCW so dont knock it till youve tried it Considering the S JCW is currently Evos fastest ever fwd hatch and only just off the pace off an S3 this new car should be phoenominal, what more do you want ? Good job MiniChili Red R56 Cooper |

| 1151bhp/tonne | Got all the engine upgrades from the challenge car Mo. Uprated pistons, different compression, bigger turbo, beefed up gear box etc. The current JCW kit is essentially an ecu upgrade, plus different manifold and exhaust. ![]() Black to the future.... |

Offline | Looks great ![]() Worth remembering that the standard 175bhp Cooper S is pretty much on par with the old R53 Cooper S Works in terms of real world performance... so this should really be something else ![]() ![]() |

Offline | The GP got Recaro seats, JCW suspension and a body kit for the £22k asking price. If you add the Recaro seats, JCW body kit and suspension to the new MINI John Cooper Works, then the price is going to be around £24k. I do like what i've read so far about this new MINI, but i think BMW are asking too much for it. I would like to have seen it between £1k to £1.5k cheaper personally. There asking customers to pay £4500 more than a standard Cooper S, for what amounts to adding a tuning kit and a big brake kit. |

Offline | Yes it would be difficult, but you could get close if... You use the same spec' engine as the fast Pug 308, the 218bhp one. And try and make the car as light as possible, so rip out everything that isn't 100% required, electrics are heavy! And use a lower final drive ratio set-up for acceleration rather than top speed. In theory, a car weighing 1050kg with 218bhp ATF and FWD, would accelerate from 0 to 60mph in 5.5 seconds? Check this out ... Car Stats - Calculator |
