Mine also has a whole host of trim and interior rattles.....by far the worst MINI I have had to be honest. Which is a shame as personally I think the R56 has a lot going for it....

Sounds like we were better off with the R53. My GP was rock solid, no rattles, no squeaks, no problems.

Johnny 5 was rock solid too. Dependable friend never ever saw the dealer apart from servicing and a sticker for the aero kit rear...

The GP is still my preferred drive, and that of the other half, its much more fun than the R56, but the R56 does have its place in that its much more easier to drive and more comfortable. But the new JCW car doesn't make me think of replacing the GP for an R56

I'm seriously tempted but confused! This JCW looks good but does not fit with the description given in Top Gear Magazine for a "Cooper S Works" as they described it.

Are there 2 new models being launched or have Top Gear jumped the gun and speculated and ended up getting much of the detail wrong??

The new JCW would have to be some car to come close to the GP.

True, but the old factory kit was £3.5k, that included brakes, but did not include suspension, HiFi, Aircon, Alloys..... all of which this car has....

It's a good price really

I have a suspicion though Jon, that the optimised suspension amounts to the optional sports suspension being standard .

I'm glad to see that they have finally got a model with air con as standard though. Can't believe in this day and age that BMW can get away with it being an option on all previous MINI's. Especially as there is a 97% take up of this option.

I would have liked to see the JCW Aero Kit included in the £20500 price though, i'd agree it was a good price then .

Well, I'd be in the 3% that wouldn't order aircon

Think back to 2005 though before the JCW kit became factory fit... Your Cooper S cost you £16k, aircon was £600, brakes were £500 plus dealer fitting, add £1k on for alloys, add another £300 for stereo, then £3k plus fitting for your JCW kit and you're well over £22k, so considering prices are supposed to have increased, this represents good value

I really think its pretty good value, and would actually like to get one.

Can you still choose from the same colors, plus what seats come standard, anyone know.

I LOVE MINIS!!!!!

I do wonder though, why a STEREO upgrade is part of a John Cooper Works (should read: high performance) MINI?

I have two theories here.

1) As much as everyone wants this to be a performance car, at the price it also needs to be a luxury car. But it is a bit odd.

2) I'm convinced it is a precursor to an improved stereo when the facelift comes around (all models) after so much negative feedback about the current system. One can hope

Because the standard one is naff And when spending £21k on a car, you expect some decent tune playing capability Just as you'd expect it to have aircon

current JCW also has other air filter intake .. manifold? which one intake or exhaust?

has about 208 real life horsepower.

Yes i can see what your saying there Jon , I'm just disappointed the price isn't under £20k is all . The rest of it all sounds good though , might even get one .

So just wondering though, would you not spec air con in a hard top MINI ?, or are you just referring back to when you specced and ordered the Minx.

Missed the air filter:

They change the exhaust manifold.
